After Gallaudet (brief stint) he was an assistant at Catholic and UVM under Lonergan - where they were quite successful. That period covered approximately 8 seasons. He’s a guy I wish we would have pursued. Has a lot of bodies in the grave if you know what I mean. Why with all that success he is still at UVM. Everyone says family reasons but wayyy more than that. Siena wouldn’t get a look from him because he is tied to Patsos. I’m well aware. I’m not talking about Becker as a current hire, that ship has long since sailed. I’m talking about before Patsos & before some the issues that took place at UVM. Besides Carm isn’t going anywhere, he’ll likely get a chance prove himself and finish out his contract. Whether it gets renewed will depend on how he performs. I think if he’s mid pack and up next year he’ll get his last year.

IF AW stays I will be more accepting of Carm remaining.

Wyche might stay if only because if Carm stays and Siena gets off to a bad start I think there’s a legitimate chance Siena abandons their policy of not firing in season. They can’t go through another year of this. If Carm starts 4-9 or 3-10 next year and there’s a good chance they’ll pull the plug on him. Wyche would become the interim head coach and have a shot to win the job full time. This would give him HC experience. This is why Carm should just go now but whatever.

Siena’s not pulling the plug on Carm. He’s likely here through the end of his contract. As I said before above 500 or top half of the MAAC gets him his his last year. Siena does not want to buy him out, not even for a year. As far as assistants; as long as Bobby is here and allowed by Carm to be the defecto decision maker look for more assistants to continue to bail. Personally I hope Bobby is done and Burns is considered as a replacement. Maybe then everyone else stays on.

Have heard a few different things this weekend that what was once a guarantee he would be back, that it got muddier the last 24 hours.

I would be shocked unless Will B is in play, DArgenio is retiring or someone from the outside is suddenly stepping up to offset the buyout. I can’t see Siena covering Carm and shelling out out an additional $300-400k if a proper search is conducted. Siena’s not going in the hole next year for $750k for 1 season on a men’s BB coach. The portals about get busy. Siena can’t be screwing around with this for any length of time.

The Admin wants to keep Carm, their future goals are clearly to find a John Dunne type, they don't want anything but a coach that can go .500 so they don't get bothered by emails.

Go back to the ARC then. Should have just kept Jimmy Patsos honestly. SPU is about to win their second MAAC championship in 3 years with a completely new team. When a coach leaves (Dunne/Holloway/Mason) they play the same style. Siena always changes philosophy when the coach changes. Embarrassing… they play in a dump and have a tenth of resources Siena has. But Siena is run by MORONS.

Siena needs a young up and coming head coach. They haven’t done that since Fan. And Siena has done shit since‼️

I don’t get all the love for AW. Granted I have no clue behind the scenes what he does but during the game he is the quietest assistant on the bench. Maybe he has given up trying but rarely does he ever seem to be giving advice to Carm and it’s not like he is trying to motivate or instruct the players directly. What am I missing…whatever good players we have gotten over the years he’s been here, is he the reason?

Did every coach who just got fired in the last week have a better record this year than Carm?

Siena needs a young up and coming head coach. They haven’t done that since Fan. And Siena has done shit since‼️ Fran was around for almost 10 years between Lehigh and UNCGB and was a 500 ish coach. He did have 2 NCAA appearances but I’m not sure I’d call him a young up and coming coach at the time. I think there was an element of luck there too and if I’m not mistaken there were more than few fans who didn’t like the hire at the time it was announced. Siena is the job that propelled him into notoriety.

Winners win, we should go back to that if we are serious about winning, which we are not.

Winners win, we should go back to that if we are serious about winning, which we are not. Idk about that… after Fran; Wes Miller had a pretty good decade plus run at UNCGB & Brett Reed had a good run at Lehigh for just under two decades. For laughs you may find it interesting to take Carm’s record at Siena and Fran’s at UNCGB and do a side by side comparison. You may find that they are not dissimilar. Fran had one NCAA appearance and one NIT (which is a different tournament today). Carm to be fair had the misfortune of the NCAA tournament being cancelled, dealing with the challenges of COVID seasons, HOF Pitino & the advent of the portal/NIL. Both hovered in the 500 range overall. Fran’s best 5 years; 1 -1st, 2 - 2nds & 2 - 3rds Carm’s 4 best years; 2 - 1st, & 2 - 3rds. Oddly Fran found himself dealing with a 3 win conference season in his 4 th year & continued to coach two additional seasons finishing 500 combined over the last two. The jury is out on Carm & if he gets two more to attempt to improve. Obviously we know of Fran’s success at Siena and long career at Iowa. I’m not judging here, just tossing out a few stats for comparison and conversation. I actually found it interesting.
