KK will probably flip out on this but can Hein give us what Smithen did last year? That's really all we're looking for. Smithen's 18-19 season - 19.4 MPG, 47.4% FG, 40.4% 3FG, 78.7% FT, 4.8 PPG, 1 APG, 1 SPG, 2.2 RPG Hein's 17-18 season - 21.9 MPG, 30.5% FG, 31.3% 3FG, 65% FT, 4 PPG, 1 APG, 0.8 SPG, 2.2 RPG Hein was hurt last year....did not have a good year but if he can get back to his form in 17-18 he can give us what Smithen did. Both the same size and Hein played in a better league. Illinois State fans said he was a solid defender too. For a guy who started at times, Hein's numbers look awful next to Smithen's. Absolutely dreadful. He had to take a lot more shots in order to still average ppg less than Smithen. He's a totally inefficient offensive player based on the stats. I really hope it's because he played hurt last season, and he ends up being a revelation this season. I'd really like to get a peak inside Carm's head to find out what he knows about Hein that we don't.

Thanks Tony. Loved hearing what coach had to say especially the part that Sloan was one of the top three “gym rats” so far this off season. I just love how hard it sounds like everyone’s working including Young losing 20 pounds (which I’m sure he’ll eventually get stronger/muscular by next season). While I read all the pros & cons of Sloan’s game/effort, I love hearing how hard he’s working because that tells me he’s truly trying to improve. I believe this’ll also translate to his effort/energy will also be better this season. Can’t wait for the season to start. This is the hardest part or summers, in general, the waiting till next Siena Basketball season. Yeah summers are great for weather, vacations, etc but the wait for Siena Basketball is murder.

Interesting comment about Burns in that Carm interview; "Hopefully hit some trail threes for us."
Carms been reading the MAAC board too much, I think.

Considering Sloan was an 18 year old big thrown into fire last year and an all rookie MAAC player to boot he’s been been trashed way too much on these boards .... how about getting behind the kid! Happy to see he’s working hard!

Happy to see he’s working hard! +1 I agree and was thrilled with how he performed last year especially being a true 18 YO freshman. Making the MAAC all rookie team. I too think some posters were too critical of him. Here’s hoping his summer work ethic along with how he performs this upcoming season makes believers out of them. I know they “want” him to succeed and improve on those aspects they believe he’s deficient in but after awhile I just get tired of hearing the same old complaining. Do worry Sloan there’s also plenty of us fans who believe in you and know you’re just going to keep getting better. Let’s Go Saints!!!
