I should point out Siena was down 18 points when Evan went out with 16:12 to go-- he came back twice in regulation for a min stint at a time ( and did something stupid, bad shot or turnover) and JC took him out- so we basically outscored Quinny by quite a bit when Evan was not on the floor. I certainly dont want to pile on the kid, but he absolutely killed us yesterday. I haven't seen the plus minus for yesterday's game, but I think Evan's was horrible

As much as Young scored, I felt that Kelly was the guy who made countless clutch baskets that allowed Quinnipiac to hang on to their lead. I think better defense on him might have changed the outcome even with Young scoring 55. Would he have scored any more with our worst defender on him?

Still need Fisher but the D gets more dynamic with a say....Pickett, Smithen, Camper, Ratliff, Degnan lineup. There's a lot of 'activity' there. But I don't think Degnan wants to be the 5....

Not many coaches would have done so - claiming that they had to stick with their senior leader - even if only for his intangibles and he had to give him a chance to break out of his funk. A small (and seemingly obvious) decision, but one that I think some others would not make. That said, I am REALLY rooting for Evan to pick it up for the last few weeks of his career. His leadership & passion over the years has been a credit to himself and the program. He deserves to go out on top!

He’s only got to do it until we win the NCAA’s.

I think Siena fans are very appreciative of the job Kevin has done this year. I think the problem was that JC had film on Young but had never seen him live. I know that we only play them once in the regular season but if we play them again in the tournament I don't think we have to worry about who will be guarding Young. We've learned the hard way. We also have to remember that it took both Camper and Pickett's best and probably most efficient games of the year to almost win against Quinny. Siena had only 4 TOs and made the most FTs of the year and still lost. It takes a lot of things to go right for Siena to win this matchup. I don't want to face them in the MAAC tourney. I still think they're just the worst match up for us. With Young's uber offensive efficiency and their great rebounding, it's just not an easy day.
I know what you are saying and it makes sense...….but on the flip side it took Young getting 55pts and QU nearly lost the game as well even having that big advantage in rebounding...…...factor in we got crappola from Fisher as well...………..

Siena had a PPS just under 1.30 yesterday vs. their season average of 1.18. (+.12)
Quinny just under 1.60 vs. average of 1.31. (+.29)
So they both played better than usual.
So, maybe you're right however ...it's also hard to say that Siena is only going to have 4 TOs in 55 mins again. That's another tall order.

And I think I will add that I agree with JC's move to sit Evan because sometimes you do things as a parent and a coach...to make the kid (player) think about it and make necessary changes based on their idea....not yours. An older, wiser former player told me that just a few short years ago.

very true on the turnovers, and incredible game stat for sure, very hard to duplicate that...……....…….not to mention how good we were at the FT line yesterday as well, that was as much a big part of the 2nd half comeback, being able to knock them down at a high rate with the clock stopped...…...we got into the bonus quite early while again not fouling them as much...……….

Appears as though Manny is no longer 'overthinking' those free throws.

Pickett Camper, Ratliff, Degnan & Smithen are capable of creating that Mayhem style of play which was extremely effective yesterday in getting us back in the game. I’m hoping we see more of it ... strategically.

Yeah, if only Ratliff could maybe turn into a Seymour without as much of those nasty Seymour side effects...like not rebounding, not forcing TOs, and not blocking shots.

Ratliff still has 8 more rebounds than Seymour this year. We haven't seen him for months....and he's a below average rebounder too. Friday still has 1 more rebound than Seymour and we haven't seen him since like November.
He may very well be the worst rebounder that D1 has ever seen. Even Evan Hymes managed almost 2 boards per game and he could fit in your carry on.

Did anyone notice when Seymour hit that 3 at the end of the one OT that he looked right up at HJs box? Lol

I will say though near the end of regulation and in OT when Fisher was out there he wasn't looking to force anything. Hopefully he can get his mind cleared because after yesterday SPU will at least be double teaming Jalen
