I caught the end of the radio broadcast on my way home. Young is playing his third season at Quinny after two years of Juco ball. Per Kannell, Quinny petitioned for a fifth year of eligibility. The basis was that although he played later in the season than is apparently allowed for a redshirt year, the total numbers of games that he played would have made him eligible for a redshirt. Meanwhile, Elijah sits on the bench, being penalized for graduating from one of the nation's finest universities in 3.5 years. When did being a STUDENT-athlete become a bad thing? When the National Corrupt Athletic Association realized the economic windfall they controlled with March Madness!

To be fair, it I believe it says in bylaws a player can't play for 2 different teams in the same calendar sports year. Maybe you guys get him for 2 years instead starting next year.

Yeah, we've got them on the ropes if it goes to three overtimes for sure! All I can say is down by 29 with 12 mins left and I’m arguing with Mr Siena (because he already gave up) that Siena was going to come back and win the game. Hey, I was wrong but Siena did come back when most of you either gave up or didn’t think they’d come back. Yeah, I ended up being wrong but I wasn’t composing or even upset. Why? Because until we actually lose the game I keep believing we’re homing to win. I can tell you it’s way more fun being optimistic that all the negative energy others expend with all the complaining during the game. I had a blast this game even with the not so good outcome. IS, we were not down 29...…………...but 20 instead...…………..

Great comeback. Great crowd. Great atmosphere at the TU and downtown on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Great game by Pickett. Unbelievable game by Pickett. One of the all time best by any player that's ever worn a Siena uniform let alone the very best ever by a Siena Freshmen...bar none. Great game by Camper as well as Smithen and a solid efforts by Degnan and Seymour and Ratliff in specific areas. Ok...all the good stuff being said I will say again that I like JC as our coach, I really do, I believe he was the right choice to bring our program back but I do have some real questions about his in game decisions late in games. #1 - They are down 20 in the second half and come all the way back utilizing a quicker more athletic group for much of it consisting of Ratliff, Camper, Smithen, Pickett, and Degnan, yet when OT starts, out comes Fisher, Seymour, and Degnan out on the court together. Style of play goes back to not keeping the pressure on, and soon enough in OT we are playing from behind again. #2 - Ratliff never sees any time again until wrap up time in the 3rd OT. Crazy how he played such a big part in the come back #3 - Lack of use of time outs during key posessions....including on a jump ball call that could have been avoided and the last possesion of I believe the 2nd ot where it was just horrible watching Pickett dribbling the ball out the full possesion when he had a wide open Smithen right to his right before dribbling to a contested deep three. #4 - Fisher, Degnan, and Seymour are just too slow or not willing to play defense or be effective on rotation help defense so they cannot all be in the game together; especially during crunch time in a close game. Ratliffs return to action should be taking minutes away from Fisher and not Smithen or Camper. It is very clear that the glue to this team is Camper, Smithen, and Pickett and their minutes should reflect that. Go Saints! um, Degnan might not be smooth or quick, but he does a good of job defending in most cases......he gets a ton of steals & deflections, besides Camper is our best rebounder on the defensive glass...……………………..that matchup vs Young was not good and not sure why he got extended minutes in that role, I think that would be a good question to ask JC, fair & questionable to say the least so that would be a criticism on our coach for sure...…………..

Very tough on Degnan. I felt bad for him. To expect him to be able to stay one on one with Young was unrealistic. I also think that Kevin has done a heck of a job this season but that was a mismatch.

The way both Young and Pickett played yesterday.....they are both mis-matches for 95% of the other players in the league!

If anyone says Degnan doesn’t play D, they just aren’t watching.....he actually defends pretty well! On Young of course not....that’s a mismatch. Coach was trying to bother him with size but he’s way too tough and quick for a 4 to stay with! Hell most guards struggle to defend him.

He's getting like 6 boards a game and has 34 stls and 16 blks on the year. That's not bad. He's no defensive superstar but he's a big part of this defense as structured currently.

Young and Pickett got a small mention in The NY Times print edition today for their 101 combined points.

I think Siena fans are very appreciative of the job Kevin has done this year. I think the problem was that JC had film on Young but had never seen him live. I know that we only play them once in the regular season but if we play them again in the tournament I don't think we have to worry about who will be guarding Young. We've learned the hard way.

We also have to remember that it took both Camper and Pickett's best and probably most efficient games of the year to almost win against Quinny. Siena had only 4 TOs and made the most FTs of the year and still lost. It takes a lot of things to go right for Siena to win this matchup.
I don't want to face them in the MAAC tourney. I still think they're just the worst match up for us. With Young's uber offensive efficiency and their great rebounding, it's just not an easy day.

Totally agree. I love my Saints but if we can't win it, I am behind Quinny.

I would agree. We played a real good game and still got beat. Anyone else in the league and Siena wins by At least 5-7 points . This loss hurt but they beat us, I think we beat ourselves against Iona. If we face Quinnipiac in the tournament hopefully it’s on Monday night.

I also left my seat in 106 with the score at 58-38 in disgust.I wound up going into the top-tier with my brother -in- law if for nothing else but to change Siena's luck? LOL GO SAINTS!!

Yes - But we also have to be concerned about foul trouble for whomever starts the game guarding him. Will be interesting if we play them again.
