Since it seems abundantly pertinent to this thread - this is what I posted/predicted in June... What Mayhem Meansit should be noted, that his teams do turn over opponents dramatically (they did at MSM, top 10 numbers)……….and it will also generate a ton of steals as well...……………...

A good coaches job is to put his team in the best position to win with the personal that he has. Thus far Jamion has done that. Despite being 1-3 in the MAAC we've been in a position to win every game unfortunately we've only won 1 out of the first 4 conference games. Our point differential in four games is -7...three losses by 12 points. We've had two games so far where we've been crushed. If you give the staff even one more good guard and big Siena easily could be 11-6 or 12-5.
Trying to "force" his mayhem system into a team without the players equipped to play for would be bad/stubborn coaching. Next year you'll see the brand of mayhem. For now JC is doing the best job he can to keep us competitive and hopefully win as many games as possible.

" A good coach's job is to put his team in the best position to win with the personnel(sp) he has." But we are not winning, maybe this isn't the "best position". Everyone just assumes it is. Just a thought.

Just a thought. you know, people can take BOTH sides of that argument...………….but, this team has been in "position" to win every game...…..one could argue in a court of law that indeed the coach has this team in POSTION to win...……..one play here or there, or bad FT shooting and it results in a team loss...………...hardly think you can argue against them NOT being in position to win...…………..had they been blown out of the water in a majority of the games, then I think your counterpoint could have some legs...……………...just sayin'

Only so much you can do with limited talent. Siena's been in a good position to win a lot more than 6 games that they've won so far this year. But talent usually wins out in the end.

You realize we re LAST IN THE COUNTRY at turning people over. And it’s not close since we were 7.5 and the next lowest is 9.0. Calling this defense “Mayhem” is like calling Rosie O’Donnell sexy. HJ, yes we all know that, and you know we can't deliver it with THIS ROSTER...……………JC is bringing a philosophy, a brand...…………..so the moment he stepped foot on the Loudonville campus that was the mantra...……………………...for this group, what you are seeing is THEIR version of Mayhem (ok, now cue the laughter)……………………. Agreed. So if it does happen next year, let’s use the word “Mayhem” next year when we see some of it. For now we can call it, “calmness.”

It does seem a little ridiculous that individuals can be watching these games and still don't get it. JC will make believers out of the doubters next year. Enough said.

Mayhem is a branding slogan. This year's "version" is not Mayhem due to the limited athleticism of the roster. If watching this team is too tough on you I suggest you take a break and wait until you are reassured that the situation is corrected with future recruiting. If that doesn't happen, walk away until it is corrected. Just a suggestion.

It’s actually “smart basketball”, coach looked at the roster, evaluated and schemed accordingly. He’s playing a style of ball that gives us the best chance to stay in games.
Conceptually it shouldn’t be to hard to understand, but yet some of the “great basketball minds”on this board just can’t seem to grasp it.

This year’s version of Mayhem will look different (playing wise) next year but the brand and mindset will be the same. Basically, Mayhem exists this season but the style of play (pressing) will look different (or the results may look better) next year.

Or anyone with eyes can see it’s the farthest thing from Mayhem. Let’s call our selves “The Dunkers” since it’s the opposite of what we do. I guess it’s hard for the bad basketball minds to understand what LAST in the country means?! Don’t worry guardian angel, I already said it should be different next year. At least I hope. I like pressing and running basketball and we haven’t had it in a decade.

Lets put the saddle where it belongs. Scoring 40, 45, 57, 60 ,60 pts is not going to win you very many games. The offensive strategy for this team appears to be lacking. I am far from being a basketball genius like some of you, but take off the "free pass" glasses. JC is a young coach with MUCH to learn. In this hockey players opinion, when you substitute, you change the offensive philosophy to suit the players on the floor, don't force what you have on the clipboard on them. This has nothing to do with defense or "mayhem". I would add, this is not on the kids at all, they are playing to win, just doing what they are told.

While true JC is young will admit he is still learning, he has to play the hand he is dealt. The BB. Aability of the players he has the injuries etc. Like you state players are working their tails off, also a reflection on JC. Not the players fault they were recruited higher than perhaps they should have been, what the lack in athleticism they certainly make up for in attitude. Finishing JC gets a pass this year, just as we gave JP a pass one of his seasons due to injuries. Overall he is committed, as well as a good manager of his staff. That of course is looking from the outside. Not afraid to admit he is wrong, that’s important in a good manager.

BTW love how you’re covering your a$$ for the turnaround next year!

Mayhem is a philosophy/frame of mind in addition to a style of play. So Mayhem exists currently as all players bought into the “mindset”. The Mayhem “style of play” will occur once the proper players are recruited for that style. Wasn’t there an article or two written about Mayhem in Nov explaining all this? Am I the only one who remembers reading it? The coach in interviews on tv repeated this Mayhem mindset. People trying to use the Mayhem playing style only as criteria w/o acknowledging the mundset criteria must have their own agenda against the coach or something.
