Detroit is my pick. It just seems right. FIU possible, as he will like the weather. Either way, Siena has avoided a huge mistake IF Pitino is really out. He might not be. Someone said this could be postering, that is possible. Some may say they avoided a huge mistake, others could argue they missed out on their chance to become a nationally recognized program and a top mid major. I hope it’s not totally done yet PLEASE. I guarantee you will join with the rest of the chorus and LOVE the hiring of Beileins son. Lets stop this charade. Pitino is dirty. He isn't good for any college.

They where never hiring Pitino. The search firm thing throws a wrench in my conspiracy theory.I thought they'd play the game then hire Beilin, but not so fast my friend.Who knows what this administration is doing but probably a good idea search firm. But if Beilin f didn't take Marist job because of Siena potential opening and he doesn't get it.This is getting interesting. As The World Turns Siena Style

If he could draw 2000 more fans a game x 15 games that's 30,000 more fans a year x $15 avg cost per seat = $450k more in revenue on game day ticket sales only.
That's just a starting point(not including all the other revenue streams that would sell, of how much more he would be worth to a Siena offer.
If they were paying Rex $400k that means, they could have problems afforded $850k?

Beilein would be a great pick, don’t get me wrong. He is a young, energetic coach that would definitely win games, however the rebuild might be slower. Siena would still be an average-good MAAC team though. With Pitino, Siena can get recruits they never could have imagined. He’s a HOF coach and has won 2 national championships, don’t say nobody wants him

Singelais posted a piece from this article( same source that received the "nope" text regarding Pitino's interest after valente had told the TU that he was)about an hour ago and it seems to have only made things more confusing. If anyone knows what is really going on I would love to know. amp.courier-journal.com/amp/526316002?__twitter_impression=true

My read on things: Rick wants the job or he’s at least interested. He’s going to hedge his bets every time the rumor mill blows up he quells it. He doesn’t want it to look like he isn’t getting the job that he’s trying hard for.
If what HJ is hearing is correct and it comes down to money, then it’s not over. Either side, especially Rick, could call the other at any time during this search and say they have reconsidered, and that would throw a wrench into things. If it’s not money that’s stalling this, then it’s likely that Siena doesn’t want to play ball.
Bottom line is, nothing has really changed. Siena is very unlikely to hire Rick Pitino. The search firm hire tomorrow will be interesting. Then we work. I have heard of several qualified candidates who want the job and a couple more really good candidates who may want it like Becker. We are fine. Siena can’t worry about the public perception game of which hire wins the press conference. Hire a winner who will bust his ass on the trail nonstop. Then get to work— lord knows we have work that needs to be done.
Siena also needs to move fast here— not sure if people realize it but dozens of players are committing to mid-major programs every day. The pool of guys to recruit from is shrinking by the minute. The longer we wait, we not only set back our new guy in 2018-19 but also in future classes.
Let’s get to work. Go Saints.

Search firm thing is bullshit. Heard that same chatter when Mitch was eventually hired.
This school has NEVER had the balls to do anything big time. In fact straight chickenshit every time. Fran brings you to within sight of the top and you bail to Walmart Buonaguro.
You will never EVER have the opportunity of having a hall of fame coach walking your sideline again. NEVER.
It's put up or shut up time
And the only thing I can see preventing siena pulling the trigger immediately is if the whole search firm thing is bullshit and they somehow lead Beilein to believe he had the job.
Pitino talking to the press. Proof he's interested. I've seen no real proof siena is REALLY interested and in fact, the moronic history of program management has me believing Siena really doesn't understand nor are they willing to take advantage and perhaps quite simply mentally incapable of a once in history opportunity

If they cant get Pitino- then I'm fine with search firm, better than having Darg do it

If they cant get Pitino- then I'm fine with search firm, better than having Darg do it I don't believe the firm thing for a minute. I'm guessing Beilein gets named which was leaked long ago. No firm. Or should I say... The same "firm" mentioned when Buonaguro was hired

Maybe it's Indian Saints return, but I think we will be fine with the final outcome of coaching choice from the pool af reported applicants. The real outcome will be decided by changes in the AD and administration that need to happen immediately after this plot twisted storyline ends. What really irks me is there is no consideration for the kids and families that committed to Siena and Patsos and for whatever reason now are shopping to leave. That is their right and they should be given the courtesy of knowledgeable and honest counsel with their interests at the forefront of any discussions. That isn't happening and that is another direct shortcoming if the athletic department staff. Forget a clean sweep with a broom, this needs a Dyson.

My concern is Marist hired a search firm - and they ended up with John Dunne. D'Arg called the Marist AD to talk about search firms. I hope we use a different one. Now, the firm can't just get anyone they want...it has to be a mutual thing obviously but the fact that they ended up with a league lateral-move pick seems odd to me.
