Pitino's words: "it's not about the money." Time for him to hold true to that. Also he wouldn't have called the times union if he wasn't interested. If we don't get him this is a huge opportunity missed for both parties. Time to get a deal with him done! Go saints!

We will never know if the potential deal,is dead. First Siena mistake, sending D’arg. His past history is horrible. No only one to and was Br. Ed and 2 BOD who know something about contracts. If Siena was serious wouldn’t have ended after one meeting. Becker is the next best.

Patino is master salesman and negotiater! But like dealing a bad salesman- you have show you can “walk away” to get the best deal! Nobody..let’s the dealer dictate terms without looking around. 😜

Start him at 500k. And head on up to 700+ by contract end given success of MAAC plus ncaa. And an out if anything punishing comes from the investigation. This was a move the College was never making. Pitino’s buddy prematurely leaked the story of his interest, and once the press got wind of it and it got out of control. I don’t think Pitino wanted his interest to be known publicly. I think he would have rather explored this via an agent. This has nothing to do with money. Look I believe Pitino was close at Rhode Island and hardly anyone caught wind of it until RI’s president killed the deal and still nothing not much went public but a couple of leaks/stories. This rumor/story got legs mid Sunday and it’s dead by Tuesday night. It was squashed. Siena needs to move on clocks running.

....deal is dead. Over all things, money! Guess I was wrong about him caring about he actuallly made on his resurrection job. No idea how far apart the parties were, but I guess it's on to the next batch of candidates. Ps--I'm praying my source is off on this one, but I don't think so ;( Oh but I thought in the newspaper pitino said he doesn't care about money? Lol. You guys really are gullible. The dude is who he is. He was never taking Siena seriously. He's not getting out of bed for less than a couple million dollars a year.

I'm curious what people think about the salary that may have been discussed with Pitino.
Pitino was rumored at Rhode Island where Hurley was getting 1M a year. Dunleavy is getting 800K at Quinny so I would expect Siena to be offering somewhere between those two numbers plus incentives to put Pitino over 1M a year.
I just can't see Pitino expecting over 1M and I cant see Siena offering much less, why bother having the discussion.

I guess it may have depended on how much the old boys (wink wink) network was willing to cough up?

I think pitino realized that Siena's interest was lukewarm at best and by that time it the story had legs. Money is an easy excuse and most of the country will believe that we didn't have the resources rather than the interest. Too bad.

No. Nor do I think it would have cost a million dollars to get him.

GB has a point, the old boys network, if they want him school goes back.
Questions asked before, where did JP buyout come from the $350k. Contingency fund, general fund donor.? If a donor what were if any conditions to their investment, curious.
