All those who want Pitino....I'm judging you. Taking Pitino at the age of 65 when his moral reputation is in the 'shitter' and him going into kids homes and trying to tell their parents that 'this time it will be different'. What makes people think that Pitino wouldn't just be another Jimmy situation? He'd be in the twilight of his career with little chance of winning the NCAAs with our budget. On top of this, he'll be distracted with horses and NCAA legal battles. What is to motivate him to put his best foot forward for Siena? It won't be money. It won't be a national title. It would ONLY be redemption at best. Pitino is the riskiest hire of the bunch. And that's not even mentioning that Siena would officially lose any moral high ground that it ever claimed to have....as they would completely contradict everything said in Siena's official statement after Jimmy's dismissal. You really cant see how this guy would be 100% motivated to show his detractors he's about the GAME, and not about the MONEY? He's the one top 5 coach fired over this FBI stuff, which is NCAA taboo, but is it breaking the real law? A shoe company steering money to a HS kid and his family? Someone going to jail over that? lol FBI: Go do some real police work! You're wasting our money. You make the contract 100% in favor of Siena protecting the school. Early exit out of the contract? RP owes the school $1 million. Siena gets put on NCAA probation because of any of his actions? $2 million go to Siena. This guy has ALWAYS gone to teams/programs that were in the toilet and dragged them out of it. Providence, Knicks, Kentucky, Celtics and even Louisville to a degree with Crum sinking quickly. Let the guy change his public perception. Do we get something out of it? Absolutely!! This fan base deserves it. This fanbase needs a HR....BADLY. He's a GRAND SLAM at this level. And I got news for all the Mother Theresa's out there. THEY'RE ALL CROOKS. ALL OF THEM at the top. Roy Williams, Boeheim, Calipari, Self and even coach K is swimming in the dirty sneaker/recruiting pool. The best ones are the ones that close their eyes to it, and flat out deny, deny, deny. Yes, someone could very well go to jail for it, it's called Money Laundering. Oh, and Racketeering. And, I agree that the top coaches are all at least to some degree dirty, but that's why I follow mid major basketball.

And why would a Franciscan school claiming to preach Franciscan values go all in on a coach with such a checkered past?

We NEED him for a recruiting cycle, 4 years. He can be 100% horses before hes 70, and visiting practices in Loudonville run by his handpicked successor. Siena not taking him is the only thing truly ruining this dream. I dont think they have the stones to hire him, and thats too bad, because the level of this program would shoot right past anything we've ever seen here before. BTW, he's a GREAT coach. If you've ever seen one of his practices, you'd be blown away.

But no one is talking about what the guy does, coach. Easily top 5 in the country. At Siena and we need to think about it?? lmao Let the guy clear his name, pack our arena and WIN. Again, contract all in our favor. He doesnt like it, let him walk. We're taking a minimal risk and doing him a favor. We should control the contract terms and I think he'd be open to that.

Go ahead and judge. Siena would never allow it but it’s fun to speculate the what if’s. Yes that what it is ,is a debate. Thank you Tony because many of us would be banned if we didn’t agree with the Franciscan Siena way. Debate is good, reading others ideas is entertaining enlightening and when they are logical they pass along knowledge and change minds. The Pitino challenge is nothing but speculation, not going to happen, Siena is probably going to end up with another loser with current management. Just have fun here

One thing I think we can all agree on is that I hope D'Arg is blowing smoke about 'taking their time' with this one.
THIS is prime recruiting time that we're missing out on NOW. Waiting now only handicaps the next coach.
They waited on firing... NOW is the the time to move fast. You lost that luxury by waiting a month to fire the last guy.

Someone posted they rather go D2 than see Pitino hired. One more bad hire you may be D3 or not at all. ==

And, this Mother Theresa will add that IF the Administration has the cujones to do this (I don't think so) they damn well better have the BEST ATTORNEYS available to lock him in for a MINIMUM of 5 years with the payment to the school penalties HJ suggested. With a net worth between 50-75 Million, if he wants to 'clear his name' using the ARC and TUC as the 'confessional' a 1-3 million dollar penalty should be acceptable to him. It's the true Catholic way...if you wanna play, you need to pay. The Vatican wasn't build on a dollar and dream. All that said, I will add that with RP at the helm, the entire Athletic Department needs an overhaul with progressive thinkers who have much broader experience than the LIMITED VIEW FROM LOUDONVILLE. I'm not saying I can't get excited about this, I'm saying is scares me to death with how we have shown things being run the past 8 years.

I'm not saying I can't get excited about this, I'm saying is scares me to death with how we have shown things being run the past 8 years. Besides the obvious moral dilemma, here is what is more than likely to happen with RP if hired … we get one maybe two years tops if lucky, regardless of contract and terms. He clears his name, builds good will and he is gone at the first legit power five offer. What happens then? Mass exodus of the talent he has brought in and we are back to square one with a gutted roster and no coach. What's the aftermath look like in his wake? This is fun to discuss for all the obvious reasons; revenue (and additional $$ from earlier contract termination), Siena’s profile/publicity, attendance etc… but really this isn’t sustainable beyond 1-2 years. Is it worth it? Would we be better off bringing in a Caputo Becker Beilein and hoping to get a 4-5 year commitment and start a rebuild that more than likely will last beyond a season or two? I realize any coach can leave but with Pitino the odds that this is a very short stay is high to say the least. Pro-Pitino folks don't shoot the messenger, this is just another view intended only for discussion...... Personally I can see it both ways...

Nice “I'm not saying I can't get excited about this, I'm saying is scares me to death with how we have shown things being run the past 8 years.” And perfectly understandable.

Let me say that if Padgett came with him and was told he was going to be the heir apparent when RP left, I would be OK with that. I think he did a remarkable job this year with the cards he was dealt. I still think Belein is our guy though and we still get a HOFer backing us up with dad
