JP looks lost right now. In years JP has been successful in his career (other than year 1 at Siena) he’s basically been able to go on autopilot in terms of rotations and let the players mostly stick to their strengths. This year he doesn’t have that and he’s recruited players that don’t fit the system he wants to run of 2 bigs and playing tough out of the post, so he has no idea what to do. Accurate post - everywhere I go, people know I go to Siena games and I get asked the same questions - "How much time does Patsos have?" "How many more days with this guy?" "Gotta win at this level, doesn't he?" I have to say he is in desperation mode. His coaching, or lack thereof, and his post game comments and game comments reflect someone who knows the tide has turned and it is not in his favor.

He really does look lost to me as well - he doesn't know how to handle this team. It's like the kids are puzzle pieces and he's never seen the picture of what the puzzle is supposed to look like. It doesn’t make sense to me. He recruited all these guards (ones we landed and ones we didn’t) and it looked like his plan was to adapt his system to running/pressing, spacing the floor, and shooting 3’s like Iona and Monmouth had. If he plan wasn’t to change his system at all, he could have recruited some bigs and guys like Camper as a Lavon-style 3 while trying to find a jet like Marquis or Dylan Cormier to run the show and get some quick leak-out buckets. Instead he went for all guards for basically 2 straight classes, especially shooters, a PG in Penn who makes good decisions but is more of a floor general and sound decision-makers. It’s not the players that JP recruited that will dig his grave, it’s the system he recruited them into. Give these floor-spacers and 1 big to Baker Dunleavy and this team isn’t bottom 3 in the MAAC.

Go buy Albany Empire tickets, with four teams in the league they will make the semis guaranteed. This board was a good read years ago now it's a joke.

Aside from his coaching, this team with this talent is in last place in a down year in the maac. It is worse than it appears. Not a player on the roster that I attempt to retain if i take over. MAYBE Penn... MAYBE. But I start looking immediately for that real strong midmajor PG

Half way through the season and how many lineups have we had? ? Mind boggling. No continuity.

Camper is not a Lavon style 3, I don’t think he’s a wing at all at this level, looks like a 4 to me based on the limited time I’ve seen him on the floor. 3. This team has very limited depth, limited athleticism, limited true MAAC caliber starters, a poor system and a poor coach. It is what it is...a bad to very mediocre team at best.

The program is about to hit an all time low. Can it get any worse? Has it ever been as bad as it is right now?

I have been a fan since Gibbons Hall...the program has always been on an upward trend...there may have been 1 step backwards but 2 steps forwards but always in a forward direction...Mitch may have been one of the steps backward but with JP it has been an avalanche down the mountain...

Next year could be worse... if Siena does make a move and dump JP, assume the roster will be blown to shreds (not necessarily a bad thing, but will create a real huge hole for 18-19)..... I am just amazed how bad it has gotten, AGAIN. While i don't know how much power or say D'arg actually has, I will say this... if I am in charge of Siena, I have a very long talk with him, about the men's team, women's team and the rest of the department and what he sees as a correct vision and plan for the next phase. At this point, I am hoping he has a dozen coaching potentials at the ready and they will actually WORK for this hire... do your due diligence, interview a dozen people if you have to, multiple times..... While the health of the whole department is in his privy, THIS hire, if he is allowed or around to make it, has to be done correctly. If they do all the back work and the hire still fails, at least they tried. Last two hires they spent zero time on... I mean you are hiring the highest paid person at your college, and you phone it in multiple times?? it's unacceptable and needs to be explained, if I was in charge.

Mitch or PW was a corrupt inside hire by Mullen. PW was old, sounded like a , proven failure , that no other D1 program even sniffed at. That was probably the worst decision in Siena's sports history. D'Arg's hire of JP was a lazy hire without any true due diligence. D'Arg is no basketball man . He is a stuffed shirt that knows how to kiss ass. The Siena sports programs need to be blown up and start over. Include the entire administration with them. I predict that So-So will NOT BE FIRED THIS YEAR. THAT FAILURE ALONE SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT THE SIENA ADMINISTRATION.

Attendance is taking a beating and would fall off a cliff next year. Siena needs a young hungry coach who is a great recruiter who has an exciting style. The program has hit rock bottom so the only expectations in year 1 for a new coach is to get Siena in the position to be competitive and to bring in some talented players.
