I always thought coaches wanted to have the team meet the recruit and see how they view the kid off the court as well as on. Especially true with a young team as that recruit will likely play with a large number of them for 3 years - oh wait, this is a Patsos team and this recruit will likely never even meet several of our kids...

Saints get a Christmas Day commitment from Christian Wilson, a 6-6 Wing from the NYC era spending a year in JUCO at South Plains College. He’ll have 3 to play. Loved his game when I saw his prep school tape. Was first team All-NEPSAC Class B last year and averaged 23.8 ppg and 7.5 rpg. Here’s a link for his highlights from prep school last year; www.hudl.com/v/27fwePhes just filling it up in JUCO...

IDK Patriot AE offers no PT on the Juco level, no visit to Siena it just seems odd although it fits Rex’s recruiting MO which doesn’t give a lot of confidence.
Looked athletic on video clip but really can’t tell much from 1 highlight film.

It sounds like he had knee surgery in October and was only cleared to play in games in mid November. Not sure how all that affected his playing, recruitment or decision to accept offer from Siena...

One thing about playing at that level of JUCO is he's practicing with and against high caliber players.Game time he'll need but practicing against good players helps out a lot.Hopefully he gets that game time coming off a knee surgery.I'll have to call my guy down there find out what i can about the kid.😉

To answer a few questions, I’m not sure whether or not he visited, but we were showing a lot of love over the summer and then offered officially in November so It seems possible he visited before he headed to JUCO or made a quick trip to campus this weekend when returning home for Christmas.
I agree, the timing is very weird. I’d been hearing we were looking to fill 2 more spots before next season, but it puts the whole pecking order with Tariq Johnson and Welch in question.
His JUCO is SUPER talented. On it are transfers/former commits to Texas Tech (2x), San Diego State, South Carolina, and Kansas State, as well as several other D1 offerrees/commits.
Overall, I personally love his game. The JUCO stats don’t really concern me, he had commitable D1 offers (Boston U and NJIT) after last season, decided to bet on himself, and between that injury that someone mentioned earlier and the high level of talent he’s up against, it doesn’t seem to have been working out. I just see a 6-6 kid with a game-ready frame who has some bounce and shoots the 3. Those are the types of guys we have to build our program around.
What HJ suggested yesterday about the staff wanting to keep the commit quiet to ensure he qualifies to avoid potential embarrassment with another JUCO whiff is entirely possible. I suppose it’s also possible that he committed and the staff wasn’t ready to take his commit with Johnson and Welch still on board. We’ll see what happens, I’ll see what i can find out.

He looks like an athlete just based on the one video clip and has a decent shot we’re definitely lacking a 6’6” wing type guy. Lets see how it shakes out. The guy I really want is Welch.

Just what the team needed...another player that had Siena as his only or best offer.

He's got athleticism but without any stats or good offers or anything...he's a wild card.
I don't quite like his movements in highlights to be a 1-3 guard as much as Johnson though maybe he's more capable of playing the PF than he his. Maybe he's more like a Marvin Prochet. He's officially listed at 6-6 at South Plains..and that's a bit bigger than the others. He could be better for that position than what we have now.
If he's coming, I bet we find out fast as he smells like a mid year transfer to me. If he's got good grades, he's not playing, and it's not the coach that recruited him...I don't know what would be keeping him at JUCO.

I don't think Siena currently has an open scholarship to give the kid mid year. If he comes, it will either be this summer or on his own dime.

I’m basically going on his HS numbers of 24 & 8 boards and ignoring the wasted JUCO year. I know it was Class B NEPSAC, but those are still impressive numbers and he was first team with a Villanova signee and others. To me, he has higher scoring upside that Johnson but Johnson is the better defender. Only question I’d have on the midyear thing is where his scholarship would come from. We don’t have any open right now, so unless someone is leaving midseason, he’d have to pay his own way for a semester.
