Article makes reference to UVM (Becker) working HARD on the kid. That puts our chances somewhere between slim and none.

It may seem like the obvious choice that Kupsas would be the target but the reality is that there has to be a kid who has no other D1 offers being looked at. Those are the primary recruits. There is always a good recruit mentioned as the reason for the trip but the end result is always some player with low or no D1 offers. Kupsas only chance of winding up with a green and gold uniform is playing in Burlington

He will target this kid, not land him, and then wind up settling for a kid with no other offers in the end.

Why do we feel the need to bash JP every time someone mentions recruiting? Yes; our recruiting has been disappointing. But right now we are involved and in good spots with multiple kids who have good offers and the staff is working their butts off to get out to see these kids. Patsos has been following around Dom Welch a ton, now is down in the city for a big game (despite not having offered anyone on either team) the night before a morning flight to a big game. He’s on the road working hard (as is the rest of the staff) and at this point that’s all we can ask for. We are in the mix with some good kids, let’s see what comes of their recruitment later.

One can only hope it gets better. My thing is I don't like the tone of the revolving door in the ARC. I would like to not only see better recruiting when we have spots opening up (by either graduation or a kids choice to leave) but not a flashing neon sign that says we have 3-4 times the offers out there than we should have spots available next year. How about up the recruiting along with player development? Just sayin....

Do you know something we don’t? Obviously Nico goes up and down, but guys like Penn, Prince, Shivers, Fisher would all have positive things to say, right? I don’t think players dislike Patsos in general, though I do confess I’m not in the locker room every day so I can’t kmow for sure.

I was merely just providing some perspective. Siena doesn't dish out nearly the volume of offers they do. Open scholarships fill up in a matter of hours in New Rochelle.

It's a sad day for Siena hoop when recruiting vs UVM is like recruiting against Syracuse. There are reasons for a kid to pick a school but aside from a limited few instances, a once upper-tier MAAC school should be more than competitive against any AE school. The fact is that isn't the case.

You’re a smart guy. You don’t find it the least bid odd that after 5 years Patsos is now suddenly putting more of an emphasis/effort recruiting? You don’t think he knows what the general fan consensus is about the effort he’s put in recruiting? It doesn’t bother you he’s been collecting more than a decent check and mailing it in? You wonder why some of us have issues with him and want him gone?

You’re a smart guy. You don’t find it the least bid odd that after 5 years Patsos is now suddenly putting more of an emphasis/effort on recruiting than he has since he’s been here? You don’t think he knows what the general fan consensus is about his recruiting efforts? It doesn’t bother you he’s been collecting more than a decent check and mailing it in (when it’s come to recruiting)? You wonder why some of us have major issues with him and want him gone? My point was more that instead of sitting here and complaining about his past mistakes we instead hope for these efforts to pay off. By all accounts Dom Welch would be an excellent get for us. I know why the effort has all the sudden increased from JP, and my hope is that it pays dividends. That’s kind of been my thing all along. I hope things improve under JP, because having to find a new coach means that things failed. I would like nothing more than for JP to land say a Welch and one of our other targets, keep this current roster core intact, and have a bright young nucleus to build on for the future of Penn, Prince, and a pair of 3-star recruits in Wojcik and Welch to go along with vets in Shivers and Nico in 2018-19 (that is, if they win some games in MAAC play this year). My goal as a fan is not to see the program crumble so that we have to fire a coach. Ive tried to keep my expectations for a rebuilding season in check, and look on to the future. Now, if we fail to land these kids that we are pushing hard for and struggle in the MAAC, that’s a much different story. I just like to wait to see what happens first.

Say what you want about Iona- no staff in the MAAC works at recruiting harder than Iona gals-- amazing how if you work hard you get "lucky" It seems everytime I look at any recruiting site Cluess or someone on his staff is out looking at a kid. meanwhile here at Siena we are amazed if JP goes out 3or 4 times in two week period. And most recruiting is done in off season- of course Jimmy is on vacation most of off season. AT any rate I am happy to see a better effort by JP of late at recruiting. Lets hope it continues and pays off for him and Siena
