This is where you do NOT put "culture seeing" over basketball. This is not sociology class it's about doing the right thing for the team - winning games it is refreshing to see someone take themselves so seriously. like all the other students at siena college getting an education and learning to grow as a young adult is the task at hand. this request just in from new hall - could you type in capitols so we can laugh harder, and let em know we are gonna win plenty of games just for you Each coach has their own style of coaching (or coaches fall into several styles of coaching). Who's to say these "Team" culture/learning history/etc are not "Team building"? I believe this just happens to be one of our coach's styles in Team building. It's good to see the players doing things outside of basketball as a Team/group, provides additional bonding opportunities; especially for such a young Team. I don't mind Coach's style of teaching the players non-basketball type things as much as others seem to mind it. This has nothing to do, in my opinion, with what happened to Shiver's injury.

I know I'd rather have a healthy Shivers for this upcoming season, but if he's going to be out significant time I believe we'll be ok enough to allows others the time needed to show what they can do. With or without Shivers, I'm expecting this year's Team to play more like a Team. It's going to be a fun year to be a Siena fan especially watching this Team play (coming together as a Team and watching everyone grow as a player).

So you guys don't think we had an unusual situation having 4 senior starters that combined for close to 6000 points, has something to do with a "4ppg" kid stepping into a prominent role? Absolutely. But you agree that he mismanaged the classes after last year's, do you? We still had a decent stable after Ubiles. Moore & Franklin left (Rossiter, Clarence, OD), and you cannot compare the 4 from last year to those 3 from 2010.

I know much is expected from Shivers- but what does it say about Siena program if you can't overcome the loss of a player that avg 4 ppg last season. Your program has to be stronger than that - at least one would think..LOL Bingo. He gets no sympathy - it's a bottom line business. I think Shivers is going to be pretty good but if you can't overcome one guy who was a fringe player a year ago you did not do your job. This is what happens when you give 'ships out to Paige, Cam, WB...he struck out on all of them and has no senior class. Now we desperately need a sophomore who averaged 4 PPG a game next year? Sorry maybe if it was Nico not Shivers... HJ says 18-19 will be real good...why should we believe it? Both times Jimmy had expectations 14-15 and last year he shit the bed. Winning season this year or he's done...Siena will feel it in the wallet the only way they will see the light. Do you think if you or others not buying tickets or supporting the program will hurt Siena in the wallet win or lose? You and the others who don't like the coach are in an uncomfortable position, if Siena wins you won't enjoy it and if they lose you can claim you were right, if there is no coaching change, what then? My suggestion is to buy or be gone.

faith hope and love baby always followed a pat on the back, morgan from Hyattsville writes in, but he takes, respectfully, issue - basketball coaches are educators first and foremost

Where are the Juniors and Seniors?? Oh thats right Jimmy Paige, Mike Wolfe, Cam Gottfried. Kenny Wormley, Willem Brandwijk, Kinnon Larose - Sorry Not buying it ... Besides with all that playing time available Jimmy and staff should have landed dynamite freshmen class- eventually you just run out of excuses and have to perform Tony, of the guys you mention, how are things going for them (I honestly don't know) but did not see any of those names in any mid-mid-major league allstar selections. Maybe I missed something?

Just goes to show how much of a lackluster recruiter ol Rex really is...

I liked Wormley also, he was a real loss I think, he filled for MW and did an admirable job. On Larose, I thought he had transferred a year ealier, but he didn't play last year (still doubt he was ever more than a role player at Siena for his career, but we shall see). Let's see what this year's freshman can do. Everyone is high on Oduro, and hard to overlook Horn's 25 pts (I know "easiest game" of the Canadian trip, but the basket is still 10 feet off the floor, even in Canada).

I really like Horn as well (based on the little I've seen), Oduro as well. Too bad these guys aren't joining a team with a solid Jr/Sr core.

Nico can play has shown what he has and I still (as I have said the past two years) think Fisher can as well. Give this team a chance to show what they can do.

Haters don't want to wait they just want to hate constantly. They root for failure and not success in order to justify their position and their egos.

This has nothing to do with hating and everything to do with watching this program being run agonizingly and slowly into the ground. I don't spend all this time here cuz Im a hater. I don't enjoy losing. I've had it with Rex, he wasn't a good fit for Siena and he was a bad hire. I've held this position from day ONE. He's worse than Mitch because Rex is languishing, he's just killing the program at much slower pace.
