Based on Fisher's first 2 years, if Rex gives him anything more than garbage time he should be fired for that alone! That is ridiculous. He's on the roster and if he has developed (which he has from what I've been told by people who have been at practices) and can be a serviceable post player than he should play. Yeah yeah I heard that song & dance last year about this time from the self proclaimed pundits. Kid needs to play on the block (ONLY) and earn minutes in garbage game time. He's had 2 years and hasn't shown a thing. Until he can show me he can rebound and play defense he's worthless. He's a big kid but slow of foot and slow off the floor.

Jimmy does change his line-ups but he seemed to confirm what the projected starters are: Penn, Nico, Shivers, Degnan and Prince - Horn/Richard/Fisher/Smithen probably the first 4 off the bench. That leaves Bentley, Huerter and Friday fighting to get into the rotation. I heard him say 2 freshman will play the point. I did not hear him name one as a starter. Did I miss something? Maybe I should listen again.

This will be Fisher's year to put it all together. That is typical for LM/MM big men with his size.

PPC, I agree with you. That said, I was always a fan of "the workman" not the flashy guys. Guys like Justin Miller, Brent Sneziak, David Ryan. Antoine Jordan, Rob Poole, Steve McCoy, Monte Henderson, Ryan Rossiter and OD also fit that mold. I think the kid can play, it is up to him to answer the bell.

Problem is Rex didn't do him any favors playing him on the wing, it exposed and magnified every weakness this kid has, if he has any shot it's on the block. He has size and strength, I want to see him use it, so far not so much!

You're really not comparing Fisher to those players are you? You know why he looked good against a D2 squad last exhibition game?

From what I've been told, he has improved. I'm hoping to get over there soon to take a look at the team from my own eyes, but I'm hearing he has made strides and looks a lot more comfortable.

I'm too tired to even gloat at this point...

You must get something from a player that big. Some take longer than others to understand that. He has to know where his mins will come from. He needs to defend and rebound

I get that it hurts, but it's undeniable

I think your starting lineup is still the most likely but he has talked an awful lot about Oduro as a PF in the past that makes me wonder if Fisher or Friday are still battling it out for the center spot and Degnan is going to backup Shivers and Oduro at the 3 and 4. Still sounds like PG is wide open between Penn and Horn, probably a good sign for Horn that it is still open competition since Penn has a semester head start on him.

Jimmy talked about a more versatile, spread offense with less set plays... and he only mentioned those besides Oduro and Degnan in passing. Plus, he hinted the small guards are a strength... If you read between the lines...we're playing a lot small ball. That means Oduro at the 5...and we play with 2 bigs mostly just when Degnan is in.. And I think that's the right move. I don't think there's really much question that that's been the plan all along. It sounds like Jimmy's been rightly pitting key players against each other since the season ended just to foster competition and development. When games start many of the players Jimmy likely has practicing across from one another could be playing next to each other....ie Oduro vs. Degnan ...Nico vs. Shivers...Horn vs. Penn...etc. And also some that are clearly fighting each other for a spot in the rotation like Friday/Fisher... I think Jimmy knows what he's doing right now.

I don't agree with some of the things you say but I'm right with you on this one. I would have played our walk-on tennis player first.

This is also true but it's really hard to believe this young man has improved enough in 5 months to justify any playing time. I was hoping for good things when he was recruited especially because he's such a fine young man. It was painful watching him on the court last year.
