collegehoopswatch.com/2017/08/01/marching-to-madness-episode-159-jimmy-patsos-siena/This podcast is one I listen to a lot, it has a ton of interviews with coaches at all levels. First about 10 minutes are focused on non-Siena related stuff (Brian Cashman, Gary Williams, etc) but then he talks about our team for the rest. My favorite quote: "Nico Clareth, Ahsante Shivers, and Prince Oduro will probably be our big 3". That's a very good sign for how Prince is looking early on with the team. Also says some very good things about Penn and Horn as ball-handling guards.

Now we just need to see who gets into the 7 & 8 spots. 1 guard, 1 center probably. Bentley, Smithen, Richard and Friday vs. Fisher. But as long as he rolls with that top 6, important work seems done. He talked about spreading out and less set plays as well.

Alot was said here and I agree with everything he said about the seniors and how this is Nico's team. He only mentioned Richard once saying he can score so he will not compete for mins at the point. Nico and Shivers will man the 2 and 3 like I said earlier. There are 2 freshmen that will play the point and he did not say who is starting. Sammy was not mentioned but I hope he still has a chance to earn mins at the 5 or he will probably be gone with Richard. Smithen was mentioned as a ex factor so maybe he has a chance to crack the rotation.

I'd say that if Shivers is truly starting...then Horn is the 6th man and Degnan subs out first.

This team is a very young team anyone pegging lock minutes at this point is crazy, rotations and time on the floor will change like most change their socks... especially with Rex.

True and so which Freshman starts at the point wont be known till the first real game stats. Penn has been playing with Richard the most in 5 on 5 against the other freshman and Nico.

I'm not sure things are as open with this team as you think. I think mins and lineups will fluctuate but I think the top 6 is pretty firm. Players may rise and fall in the 7 & 8 spot but the top 6 are pretty much your starters. If it wasn't an obvious top 6, I'd agree. But this top 6 seems pretty obvious to me too.

There is a big 3 that includes a freshman with 2 other freshmen fighting to start at the 1. The 2 bigs are now Fisher and Sammy and then D is a 4/5...the other returners are behind the freshmen

The first 10 were about Maryland so I assume the total podcast was about 12 minutes or so.

The first 10 were about Maryland so I assume the total podcast was about 12 minutes or so. The Podcast was 28 1/2 minutes long (watch the little green bar at the bottom of the screen). The first 12 minutes or so were not really Siena basketball related but did give a little more insight into the coach's mind and thought process, but then, if you have an agenda none of that matters.

Exactly. As someone who listens to this podcast frequently, the interviews typically start with talk about their career as a whole and things about the coach's personal life for a while before getting into the current team/program.

Jimmy does change his line-ups but he seemed to confirm what the projected starters are: Penn, Nico, Shivers, Degnan and Prince - Horn/Richard/Fisher/Smithen probably the first 4 off the bench. That leaves Bentley, Huerter and Friday fighting to get into the rotation.

Yup about 45% of the podcast had zip to do with Siena ball. Pretty typical. Pretty close to 5👀, he's consistent if he's not anything! Insight into the coaches mind could be a very scary place!

That is ridiculous. He's on the roster and if he has developed (which he has from what I've been told by people who have been at practices) and can be a serviceable post player than he should play.
