Here's what theoretically could have happened if Jimmy had given EF's mins to Friday last year.(sign in to see attachment)
Friday's PPS= 1.54 Fisher's PPS = 0.84
Without even discussing the difference in defensive stops...playing Friday over Fisher could have theoretically resulted in 34 more points, 12 more boards, 4 more stls, and 3 less turnovers, 1 less block.
Basically, after all is said and done,...you could be talking about close to 2 more ppg towards your team's point differential by playing Friday over Fisher last year. This would have increased Friday's time to still just 12 mpg.
I bet the results could have been even better if you prorated WB's career stats over the same amount of minutes.
So Fisher played just 8 mpg and that may have cost us 2 or more PPG. Imagine what 30 mpg could do.

We all know Fisher was bad last year. In fact, bad is probably an understatement. While it is concerning that Friday hasn't beaten him out yet, we do know Fisher works hard and has reportedly lost weight. If he has improved as a rebounder and gets more comfortable with the ball in his hands, he can at least be serviceable.
Oduro will get time at both the 4 and 5 from what I've been told, hopefully he'll win the starting center spot though.
Honestly, my biggest concern with our center spot is pick and roll defense. I truly think our bigs will be terrible defending the pick and roll, so we need really good rotation from our wings.

I don't know what type of defense will make sense for this team. The interior D is going to be awful. There's probably no getting around that. Either they play Fran ball and trap and trade some easies for more steals or they try to double team like Dunne down low and use their speed to recover on the passes out of it.
I don't think they can easily leave 1 big alone on an island. The nearest guard will have to double the post. Jimmy needs to watch film of Monmouth and Dunne's defensive schemes.

Just found this article...breakdown of every player on team. www.troyrecord.com/article/TR/20170713/SPORTS/170719911Maybe it was posted not sure. -Mentions Degnan having possible center minutes too...but still no mention of Oduro there. -" Manny Camper: Camper has been dealing with knee injuries and likely won’t be ready until early fall. As a result, Patsos expects him to redshirt his freshman season." - If he's ready by early fall...why redshirt him? If he misses the Canada trip but still gets a month of practice in, he could still maybe help us at the 4. -Sounds like Heurter is still behind the pack.

KK, delete your post so PPC can't read it. She will go ballistic about what Jimmy had to say about Khalil's role.

The sad thing is when players are criticized...the players are who they are and play to the best of their ability...it is when the coach misuses a player throwing them to the wolves and accepting no responsibility for the results that ticks me off.

Well I guess that conclusively ends the Penn vs. Richard as the starting PG debate. PPC can either claim Richard was recruited over - or accept what most here were arguing in that it sounds like it was never a competition. Patsos straight out said Richard needs to accept that he's a 2 in a 1's body. Can't make it any clearer than that. Penn will be the starting 1. Richard can be a great 6th man, taking over Nico's old role as instant offense off the bench. 6 men getting a lot of minutes in the Patsos system, so it's not a bad thing.

Right now, it looks like Horn is in the lead for the 6th man role, and will get time at both guard spots.

My other takeaway from this article is Fisher's mention as a possible starter at the 5 makes no sense to me. How can the coach say Oduro could play at a power 5 school and not identify him as a potential starter? Certainly no other big man on the team could even walk on at a power 5 school. They haven't gone head to head yet because Oduro just arrived. But if he doesn't beat out Fisher as the starting 5, then the hype about him being a high-major player is B.S.

This is Jimmy’s 5th season I wouldnt get too wrapped up in JP’s player rotations in July- Oduro just got in so hard for Jimmy to pencil in a freshmen, Prince will have to ”earn” it. But from what Jimmy is saying looks like Friday could be “odd” man out if he doesn’t get in shape

Anyone want to calculate the cost of how many years of education/room/board have been covered for players that seem to end up 'odd man out' ? I'll start; it appears Smithen who will be here for his third year is now an odd man out Friday now may be an odd man out after one year Richard appears to have been 'recruited over' And then there are all the transfers.....what about player development?

Other than Smithen, who maybe just hasn't worked out as hoped....many of Jimmy's recruits had obvious weaknesses from the get go which point to them being career role players. Many of them never actually had a position. Richard's upside was always as a 6ft SG who struggles on defense. He's actually done everything he was supposed to. White was a guard who never had guard skills and played as like 4th guard/PF in HS. Nobody knows what Paige was. Gottfried was never a D1 player. Recruit enough players without true D1 positions and you're forced into a 'me or them' scenario as a coach. This is just JP's lazy recruiting coming back around on him.
