Doesn't U19 stand for 'under 19'? I find it hard to believe that either Heurter is still under 19. I know I was 19 before I even stepped on campus. I was 17 when I was a freshman at Siena. This should put Prince and maybe Kevin straight in Jumbo's doghouse al la WB. When would they be back August? Oh goodie maybe we get to see more Fish. Tournament ends July 9.

On a more positive note, Prince Oduro is one of 22 players invited to the Canadian U19 training camp. The roster will be trimmed to 12 to go to the FIBA World Championships at the end of the month in Egypt. Invitees include players/signees at Iowa State, Oregon, Kentucky Harvard, and other schools, along with many top players in the 2018 and 2019 classes. Even though making the roster would cause him to have to enroll a couple of weeks late, hopefully he gets the chance to play with this team overseas. It would be a great experience to play and practice with top players. Good luck Prince! I would think getting a head start on classes and developing chemistry with his own teammates while learning Jimmy's system would be much more valuable in the long run than an overseas junket playing with teammates he may never play with again. So following onward... practice time against your team is more valuable than game time against other competition in developing a player's D1 skills? Is this what you are saying?

A month away from the team developing chemistry with guys you'll never play with again, while also not getting ahead by taking courses or being around the coaches. I'm sure it will be a good experience for him but it would be nice if he focused on Siena. At Siena, he will only be allowed to practice for 2 hours a week. On this trip, he gets to practice every day and get coached by many very good coaches (head coach at New Mexico and assistant at Virginia Tech). He'll only miss 2-3 weeks of class (my bigger concern considering it seems like he may not be the strongest student). Last year, Shivers didn't get here until fall semester and had no issues. In fact, he played the most of any of the freshmen and had the best chemistry with the returning guys of any of the freshmen. This trip will help Prince a lot as a basketball player and won't really hurt the team in the long run. Just to clarify, the up to 2 hours of practice each week I believe refers to how much "organized" coaching time as a group. I'm sure there's also one on one type practice but even if there isn't; there's probably no limit on the players playing pick-up games with each other. It's during that type of practicing that they build relationships and understand each other's tendencys for more cohesive play come the beginning of the season. Plus if he were to enroll and be eligible for the foreign trip, the team is allowed additional practice time before the trip. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that he was given the opportunity to play for Canada but I also see and understand KK's comments/thinking as well. I too find that enrolling early and playing/practicing with the team to be just as beneficial if not more so for Prince & Siena. He'll be just fine either way.

I would say both are important and valuable. I believe KK's POV is he and the team might benefit more playing together, learning the Siena system and getting to know each other better (including tendencies/anticipations/etc that would help them and Team play together. Again, no matter what experience he gets it'll be better than none.

If he's not able too go on the foreign trip there could benefits all around let's say Sammy and Fisher player good on the trip that'll give them confidence going into the season. Then if Prince is a competitor he will see this as a challenge to come in and work too show his skills therefore making practices competitive and all of the guys making each other better.I'm just looking on the positive side no time for negative vibes 💝

Wow, that is pretty interesting, having King Rice on this staff. Makes you wonder if he didn't miss the boat sailing out of New Jersey this year. At any rate, I am with IS here and also see KK's POV. But the last time we had a player who participated in representing Canada it worked out fairly well. The experiences of summer will be brought to the table by each of the kids in the program. It is up to the staff to extrapolate what about their summer experiences is good/bad/ugly and perpetuate the good to put everyone in the best position to maximize every bit of talent they have. In what see as a really down year in the MAAC, it is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, just good planning and management. Again, just MHO.

Prince Oduro's U19 Canadian national team has 3 exhibition games in France before they start the actual World Cup on July 1. Their first exhibition was today against France. Canada lost 70-64, but Prince started along with Lindell Wigginton (Iowa State), Abu Kigab (Oregon), Anthony Longpre (St. Joseph's) and RJ Barrett (#1 player in ESPN's 2019 rankings). Impressive company for sure. Can't find stats for the game, I'll be sure to share if I find them. Obviously, it's good that he will be earning plenty of playing time throughout these next few weeks, looks like we landed a steal.

Prince Oduro's next exhibition game was this morning, this one against Lithuania. This time, Prince didn't start at the 5, instead it was Amidou Bamba, who averaged 5 pts and 4 rbs this season as a freshman at Coastal Carolina. It appears it is a 2-man rotation of Bamba and Oduro at the center position, so he should get a decent amount of playing time. Once again, no stats are available, but there should be live streams and full statistics for the World Cup games in Cairo next weekend. One more exhibition tomorrow against Spain before they go off to Cairo.

Just saw the kids run. Horn and Camper there. No Prince obviously and Bentley still finishing up school I think. Horn knows how to play. I think he and Richard fight for first guard off the bench, but they'll both play. Penn ran with the first team the whole time. Fisher was at center. Sammy needs to work on his conditioning. Camper looks the part, but didn't do much. Looked like he was afraid to extend himself. Might be favoring a knee. Only 11 scholarship guys and he really didn't get any run so he's an "incomplete" right now. Competitive. Degnan can really shoot. Shivers still showing big jump coming for him. Nico is Nico. 1st team all MAAC. Fisher doing enoiugh to get minutes at this point. Still expect Prince to be starting center.

Jimmy seems to do better when he doesn't have expectations (which is good for next year not for his long-term future at Siena). I think we have some interesting pieces to contend for the top 4 in a down MAAC. The key will be how quickly they can get it going. Playing your best late in the season is what you want but a 4-11 start will not cut it this year (or any year of course).

we need to find a rotation within first 5-6 games and then stick with it long term
