We've been over this before. Just because Camper put up gaudy numbers against shit competition, it doesn't suggest he can do the same against real competition. Otherwise Kinnon Larose would have been MAAC rookie of the year as a freshman. Instead he was overmatched against division 1 competition and could not get off the bench. Now he's at frickin Sacred Heart. You want to gauge what a future impact recruit looked like before college, maybe look at who Mikey Dixon played against and how he did against them before college. He was a state player of the year and first team all state in DE. Played on the number 1 ranked team in the state and averaged over 27 ppg against the best that state had to offer. When you play against the best in your state, and are the best in your state, then your gaudy numbers impress. Camper could be very well end up a pleasant surprise. But it's a we'll believe it when we see it situation given the history of this staff. A player with numbers like his should have been noticed by someone. But much like LaRose, nobody was impressed enough to offer him - except us. Given the mediocre recruiting we've seen from Patsos & Co., the odds are more likely that he's a dud than a stud. That said, I sincerely hope that I'm proven wrong. Yes Kinnon Larose=Manny Camper per Sienafan I know. That's not what I was saying at all. LaRose was simply used as an example to prove my point. If Camper's high school numbers translate to his division 1 experience then great. Then we've got ourselves an all league player at the 3. But you still have to ask yourself why those gaudy numbers didn't translate into college offers. We asked the same question when LaRose signed 2 years ago. We've since learned why they didn't for LaRose. Hopefully Camper will be different.

That said, I sincerely hope that I'm proven wrong. Yes but, per what I've been reading, Camper is more athletic & bouncier than Kinnon's is/was. That alone may be why he could do better against D1 talent. I get it that Jimmy hasn't impressed some with the past but I still believe Jimmy is trying to be/get better. Learn and improve, but probably not as fast as others may like. I'm not saying he's a good coach or will become what others expect but he is trying IMO. As KK said, on paper, Camper looks like he may do well here. On paper a lot of guys who have come and gone looked like they may do well here before flaming out. Which has led to an unusually large amount of turnover in this program. All I'm saying is prove it to me on the court. Nico Clareth is the only player Patsos has brought in that I felt confident was going to be something special before seeing him play his first game. I'm similarly getting that feeling about Oduro.

The knock on LaRose was not LaRose. The knock on LaRose was that Jimmy didn't play him enough...not that he played him too much. You're basing this whole argument on calling Kinnon LaRose a bad recruit. He made shots. He rebounded. He didn't turn it over. I don't get you using Kinnon LaRose as a negative to prove this point. The kid did everything he was supposed to on paper. He was largely just a victim of Ryan Oliver being a senior and the most beloved hero of our generation.

A month away from the team developing chemistry with guys you'll never play with again, while also not getting ahead by taking courses or being around the coaches. I'm sure it will be a good experience for him but it would be nice if he focused on Siena.

Right representing your country is always a bad thing.

Right representing your country is always a bad thing. Yawn. I didn't say that. I'm just saying that him playing in this thing has an effect on things. If I were him, I'd probably do it too. Get to travel etc.. He just won't be around.

For the post players not that much adjustment catch and finish as long as he's getting in shape and working out that's all that matters.Only adjustment is the guards learning where he likes to catch the ball and when and with the guards we have shouldn't be a problem.Congrats for the kid anytime you can put on your national colors go for it we'll be 👌

Kinnon did some things very well. Too bad he was never reallly given a fair shot. That was evident when Gottfried got minutes over him.

I hear you, but what would Siena fans rather talk and/read about on this forum; upbeat players' skill levels, player/team potential, and other more neutral to positive posts; or the same old doom & gloom or let's wait and see how Jimmy's going to screw this up this year? I, for one, prefer reading about the potential/positives people are talking about (like KK).

I'm sure it will be a good experience for him but it would be nice if he focused on Siena. At Siena, he will only be allowed to practice for 2 hours a week. On this trip, he gets to practice every day and get coached by many very good coaches (head coach at New Mexico and assistant at Virginia Tech). He'll only miss 2-3 weeks of class (my bigger concern considering it seems like he may not be the strongest student). Last year, Shivers didn't get here until fall semester and had no issues. In fact, he played the most of any of the freshmen and had the best chemistry with the returning guys of any of the freshmen. This trip will help Prince a lot as a basketball player and won't really hurt the team in the long run.

If he's not enrolled and taking classes, is he then not eligible for a foreign trip, if Siena does one...?

I believe Kevin Huerter is trying out for the U19 US team. Doesn't U19 stand for 'under 19'? I find it hard to believe that either Heurter is still under 19. I know I was 19 before I even stepped on campus.

I know I was 19 before I even stepped on campus. I was 17 when I was a freshman at Siena. This should put Prince and maybe Kevin straight in Jumbo's doghouse al la WB. When would they be back August? Oh goodie maybe we get to see more Fish.
