It has to be embarassing for them considering their recent success. As a Siena alum I'm also embarrassed by the poor turnout of Siena students this season at both men and women's games And yet 500-800 Will sign up for the Dog Pound but don't show up for the games. It is embarrassing. I go back to the days at Gibbons Hall. Half of the capacity was filled with students; at the time almost the entire student population. I guess there are too many other things to do. Being on break never stopped my friends and me from showing up at the games.

Except Albany can't HALF fill their current 4500 arena, but you keep going with that theory 😜......and I love how 6800 is a "bad" night of attendance in the MAAC! 😝😝 Don't be naive. If Albany ever decided to take over the tuc what do you think will happen...the fans attending the Siena games now will be attending the Albany games instead duh. Your starting to attend Albany games yourself so don't say it can't happen. Besides, I never said 6,850 was "bad", just not great. Last year 8k showed up for Marist let's see what happens this year. Albany would still draw shitty crowds. Pathetic fan base given the # of graduates they churn out every year and if you think the MAAC is weak, wait until you see the bottom half of the American East conference.

Student tickets at free/drastically reduced prices should be available for every game, even when they are on break. I don't believe this is the case though and is why even the local kids don't bother coming when the team is on break.

When I mentioned the 3 week RPI "hockey line" that was to BUY student tickets (about 1/2 price), not free, with limits on how many you could buy, and that was 30-35 years ago!

And I reiterate when I stated at the preseason Meet 'N Greet that I counted over 100 seats that were given up by season ticket holders for this season. Next year and the year after most likely will double or triple that number. The empty seats at this years games are a true trend that the school needs to HALT ASAP.

I will take a little different look at it, and this is simply my opinion and in no way meant to be demeaning to any group or generation. When I was growing up Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football and PeeWee Hockey were flourishing. You actually had to try-out to make a team. Today, District 14 LL is a shadow of itself, I don't know if they still even play PopWarner anymore (I am out of the area so don't have much information)and youth hockey is way down in participation. Why does this matter and why is this relevant? If you don't play as a kid you are less likely to be as engaged in rooting for your school when you are college student unless it is "a social event". Just take a look at student attendance at UA or Siena or RPI hockey which used to sell out 5700 seats a few times every year. There even used to be "a hockey line" for three weeks to get student tickets at RPI. No more. So it is to a large degree alumni and local fans who make up support for the teams these days. Times have changed. Many of the UA students are from out of the area (I know they have commuter students, but they tend to be even less engaged)so I am skeptical that short of joining the A-10 or better UA will catch Siena in BBall attendance. Could be wrong, just one guy looking at it from a different angle. It's very true about the dwindling numbers in youth sports today. I think the apathy on behalf of college students has been developing for quite a while, just worsening. My son was a football player at Marist and a starter on Hudson high's 2001 championship basketball team but even he hardly went to basketball games at Marist.(2002-2006) And he played pick-up with the BB players at Marist. I couldn't believe he rarely went to games. I don't know, maybe these freakin' video games have had a large impact on kids not finding time for spectator sports.

I used to notice D'Arg down in the pit at the TUC. I haven't seen him in quite a while. Maybe he's still attending but if not I think the empty seats would be an eye opener for him. The entire row behind me has been empty for many games. I don't think those guys will renew.
