Doug Sherman threw out a suggestion last evening that the TUC vs SEFCU site logjam re renewal of the Capitol Cup might be solved by moving the game to the GF Civics Center and splitting the tickets 50:50 between the schools. Interesting idea. The season ticket base would be satisfied but I'd bet on some bitching if the game was, and it should be, included in the Siena Season Ticket package due to the need to travel north! Students (the few that come) would require busing and the uncertainty re their attendance would likely block some seats for the GF fans who would embrace the game, IMO. Both teams would have a "neutral" court game in front of their fan bases. Might be worth a two year extension to see how it shakes out.

True but do either of the two programs benefit from the local economic shot in the arm? I believe seating is about 5K. Not saying it's an ideal solution, just offering up what Doug threw out there.

It better not be included in the SIena season ticket package. The point of a season ticket is you get all games in the same seat. It's a dumb idea all the way around. Cancel the game omg.

At this point the Siena admins have SUCKED enough life out of the program that Brown/UA have earned a home/home. This should have never happened but due to incompetence at a staggering level it has. They have owned us. The last thing I want to see is us bag this game now after losing 3 times in a row. Eff that! No way we should end as losers.
That said, there should be some rules changes re: seating. The game should NOT be included in either bases season tix package. Each arena should be divided in half (long ways) so that each team has comparable seating with no advantage at either basket. 50% of tix should be reserved for each school to sell until the day of the game. Unsold tix are released to the general public. The games at both gyms would be televised.
I figure this is the fairest way. UA may b*tch but their gym is so small that without a significant guarantee of seats it wouldn't be fair. The TUC can handle both fan bases easily so we'd effectively lose home court while they'd have it in spades. I say no thanks on that. If they want a game on their court then they have to let a comparable number of Siena fans in. Proceeds can stay with the home school :-) They can keep all the revenue from their 5K and we keep ours from 10K.
GFalls is an interesting idea and it is actually a bit easier for me to get to but I think it is more of a case of nobody is happy vs everyone being happy.

This debate keeps popping up leaving siena fans wondering what the schedule is. I think I will hold off on renewal until it is settled.

My suggestion:
1. Have it at TU Center
2. Have a new floor installed for the "Albany cup' games! Spit the cost 50/50!
3. Give Albany full access to the TU Center- let them play whatever music/videos they want! Let them show more Albany colors-banners, flags..
4. I would also open up South Pearl to all fans! Make it more fan friendly-music and such!

The appeal of GFCC would depend on where you live. Other than those that live north of Albany getting to the game could be a disaster in bad weather. You don't exactly have an interstate going right to the center. Traffic for 5000 in Glens Falls is much worse than 10000 at the TUC.

If there was ever an agreement to split revenue and tickets down the middle, why the hell wouldn't the game be at the TUC? UA cant get Siena to make those concessions for the TUC, so why would they do it for a 5,000 arena an hour away from campus??

I like Sherm, but this idea is not realistic, most of the reasons have been cited in this thread already.................game MUST be played at TUC.......................give ALL fans, every equal opportunity to by tickets, first come first served.............revenue sharing on this game is very plausible..............IF you don't like it, don't go.............it is an event for the community, too which all should share in it...........................this would not be an issue if SEFCU was bigger, because the schools could alternate hosting but not at the expense of losing out on the possible 10K plus fans !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We can go around and around. Nothing is going to be done for at least 6-8 weeks. If at all. Brown decides to, stay game is gone. Unfortunately to many bridges have been burned with remarks from both sides. Both AD's should have told the coaches to shut it.
I agree with most cancel the damn thing and bring someone in.

Siena should play its "Pope" card and get a high major Catholic college in to replace the game if UA doesn't want to play at TUC

First half at UA, bus the team and cheerleaders over for Second Half at the TUC.
Yes I'm kidding. Kind of.
