I'd like to see Siena and UA host a Capital District tournament at the TU with 2 other solid mid majors like Davidson Xavier Butler Dayton UMASS GW Murray State etc .... Siena vs Davidson, UA vs Dayton. Draw would be huge and it be a fun 2 days of hoop. Don't know if we could get teams here but it would be nice if it happened ....

The game should continue. The fan interest is there and is only heightened with the UA run in the NCAAs. Several reasonable options have been suggested here and concessions will have to be made on each side, but the TUC is the only viable option to accommodate all the fans interested in attending. It is a community event and to shut out the community makes no sense.

I had one out here a few years ago that the school never really pursued, and it would have been a guarantee 15,000 sell out. I wanted Siena to play Penn St, with Talor Battle, and UA to play BYU, with Jimmer Fredette, in a doubleheader for a senior year homecoming for both. Should have been planned during their sophomore years, and the schools would have done it since both kids ended up being the schools all-time leading scorers.

Siena should play its "Pope" card and get a high major Catholic college in to replace the game if UA doesn't want to play at TUC I've been saying this for years; we should have reached out to St. John's many years ago. I asked Fran why not St. Johns; he said there's no money to be made. Every other year at the TU, how can you not make money? Albany can't sell the tickets that Siena gives them now. The majority of the non season ticket fans that attend this game are Siena fans. They need this game more than we do. They use it as a recruiting tool. The game should stay as is......Give Albany all the tickets they can sell so they can make money. They have beaten us 3 straight years.(and they may beat us next year too)...why would they want to stop playing it. It’s all smoke and mirrors with UAlbany, call their bluff.

BTW, this guy is an idiot, GFCC holds what, under 5k people? If Siena even entertains this idiotic idea then any argument about venue size goes out the window forever. Dumb idea all around...

I'd go to the game at the TUC, I'd go to the game at SEFCU, I'd go to the game at the ARC, I'd go to the game at the Washington Ave Armory if I could tickets. But no way in hell I am driving up to Glens Falls to see Siena play Albany in a meaningless non-conference game. Horrible idea.

Don't usually agree with ClickClack but I agree with him on this one - end the series and revisit it in a few years. It has gotten stale and Siena needs to get their house in order.

GFCC capacity is only about 80 more people than SEFCU. The only selling point is a neutral site. If you're going to shut out 7K fans an hiatus of the series is in order.

OneIndian - good idea should Siena recover and UA stay strong. No way you get Dayton/Xavier/etc. to commit to a low major tourney. UA and Siena are both killers on their RPI. If we can get back to the natural order of things and UA can keep progressing it makes sense for the high major teams you mentioned.

Glens Falls CC is too small, it would shut out too many on both sides who aldeady attend. If they don't split the costs/tickets 50-50 and not include in either teams season tickets as I'm hearing; then they should cancel it.
Splitting costs/tickets equally on a first come first serve basis is just about the most fairest thing proposed. If that didn't fly it must be cancelled.
PS: if UA had to pay half the costs and could only make money on its 1/2 ticket allotment, I'd be willing to bet they end up on the loosing end of the financial deal. Siena would still potentially sell 6-7k but only have to pay half the costs and wouldn't have to pay UA for the Home game. UA would quickly change its tune if they lost money on it.

Next game at the TUC. Winner gets home court the next year.

I really like the idea of the tournament with joint ownership and responsibility. It think that could go a long way to developing the 'two team town' concept.
