I think most of us want the same thing: To consistently be in the mix for the regular season and tournament titles, win 18-20+ games and get to post season consistently and to win some games when the team gets there, all while recruiting and graduating legitimate student athletes. If that is achieved most of us will be content. I understand that this past year did not measure up and therefore there is legitimate discontent. My question is if all of the criteria I mentioned are met will the discontent evaporate or will there still be some who think the present coach is not the guy for the job based on his persona.
If the criteria are met I'm happy. What about you?
Of course if the criteria are met, the present coach will move on in short order, so then maybe everybody is happy. ;-)

No one thinks there is one single way to get the job done. However, the "persona" may be contributing to the issues. We will have to wait and see. I think he could certainly do a better job of managing disappointment among the fan base etc even with his "persona". As has been pointed out... he hasnt shown the greatest skills in dealing with adversity and/or adjusting his recipe to the ingredients he has on hand. obviously there will always be some who will complain about his "persona" even as they did so with Fran and his team setting all-time records.

I think some people just can't comprehend legitimate criticism of the coach. I would rather criticize high paid coaches than the players.

I forget what Tony pays for his "special" ticket but it aint cheap. I spent a considerable amount on three tickets. Ive heard from numerous people who are getting a bit taken advantage of with the ticket prices couple with the product on the floor. in the last 15 years... 9 or so have been pretty bad. As well as an additional 1 or 2 rebuilding years. Some of you have been fans for decades. Im approaching 18 years or so. Much of what Ive seen over that time has been really bad. We all get that cycles can and will happen. You cant be at the pinnacle every year or even most years.... but the program flat out BOTTOMS OUT when things go south. I do believe that is why Patsos got the job. Mediocre with some good years (as the worst it could get) was more attractive than extreme highs followed by devastating lows with the coaching carousel

The funny thing about all of this is that in a week Patsos could land a great recruit and then everyone will talk about how great he and his assistants are.

Of course if the criteria are met, the present coach will move on in short order, so then maybe everybody is happy. ;-) I think as long as Siena is in the MAAC they should contend for the MAAC title just about every year. That is the stated goal of the administration in fact. That doesn't mean we should expect to win it every year but Siena, with their resources/fan base etc should always contend. I would say 18-20 wins in the regular season should always be an expectation. The tournament can be a crapshoot but we should go into every tournament thinking there is a realistic possibility Siena can win it. That has not happened for five years - which certainly is not all on the current head coach. Also if we are fortunate enough the conference tournament you want to have a regular season good enough to give you a decent seed with a chance to advance in the NCAA tournament. Next year I expect 18-20 wins in the REGULAR season and a top 4 finish with a real possibility of winning the MAAC tournament at the TUC. If that happens I will be more than happy. After that you take your chances in March.

Mediocre with some good years (as the worst it could get) was more attractive than extreme highs followed by devastating lows with the coaching carousel I can understand people's concerns over the price vs product/entertainment value. Unfortunately for me I got caught up with the 88-89 season (while attending Siena). I was hook/addicted then. I'm one of the rare fans that can't get enough of Siena basketball (truly addicted). For me, it's like oxygen, I don't believe I can survive without it. So, when I appear to come across as not agreeing with many posters, just remember I'm a Siena basketball addict and can't help myself. There, I've said it out loud. But I'm not looking to rehab this particular addiction. Just want more Siena Basketball. Winning Siena basketball is the better drug but I found out I can still survive on the cheap losing Siena basketball too.

I wonder if the absence of response from some of the more persistent critics puts them in the Patsos must go no matter what, or if they just haven't had time to comment. Quite honestly I had Gorvy on the must go side and was heartened to see his position.

Quite honestly I had Gorvy on the must go side and was heartened to see his position. I don't really think there are any "Patsos must go now" critics - there are a bunch of us that want Patsos to make some changes in how he coaches, etc. If that happens and things improve so be it. For now it has to be a wait and see - too many unanswered questions remain and we won't see any hints at answers until possibly the summer when the stars arrive to play pickup. If another player or two bolts that may change some positions, as I said we need to wait and see. I agree with BigSaintG's gut feel that Garrett Kelly is the only staff change we will see.

Im starting to think they are all coming back. I hope I am wrong or it signals a bigger issue that Jimmy is not committed to improving his program I think a shake up in staff is coming- stay tuned

This is the weekend for networking and interviewing. Over 25 coaching staffs are changing over this year, plus individual positions being opened up on D1 level but I don't think the 'dismissed' assistant goes D1. I still think a shake up is coming because the program needs to deflect from JP and try to appease the fan base as the renewal letters hit the mailboxes. Obviously Tony has had a busy morning with posting, so being the cynical person that I am, there is something that needs to have the 'company' line message supported coming soon.

I should add one more thing, that won’t make the “haters” happy. While nothing is guaranteed especially these days when transfers are rampant – there will be no more transfers/defections from Siena – anybody posting that crap is just trying to start trouble

Sounds like you had a come to Jesus meeting with someone - appropriate given the time of year. Happy Easter!
