But this is a discussions about the assistants job not the HC. I think Jimmy should shake up the staff but it is his staff so he has to be comfortable with who he hires. That's the key though, it's his staff. I would be concerned if fans were running to the AD asking for heads to roll if it could undermine this coach's ability to work with his staff. Patsos knows what he needs to get right. Let him decide who will help him get there. For those who are anti-Patsos here, the expression for you is "give him enough rope to hang himself." We may learn that it actually works out. I would be more concerned that meddling or pressure reduces the effectiveness of this coach.

Thanks, SF. I would love to see Craig come back for the NY/NJ connection. Not feeling the Ruland thing. Again, who did Craig ever bring here in his 3 years? Especially from the NY area? Onecrecuit with whom Craig was instumental in the commitment was JO, whose father Craig had known for a number of years. Beyond that, I don't know.

Can't give him a lot of credit for getting a kid from Troy, and beating out JMU.

May have been true years ago but the relative attractiveness between us and UA has shifted 180 degrees and the likelihood of an NCAA trip is higher across town, IMO. There are also some kids that don't want to stay "home". There are also some risks associated with keeping some kids local - Jarming White is an example of a kid that should have left the area - too close to the local "boys".

Dont agree with that at all- knee jerk reaction-- go to a November game in Sefcu with 1200 fans there and then to TUC--No comparison. UA is on right track, and Siena almost certainly needs to get their act together. But lets not get carried away with comparisons. Siena still gets 3 times the fans and more media coverage

Siena still gets 3 times the fans and more media coverage If you are saying that playing in front of 5000 fans on a team that has gone essentialy no where for the last 5 years is more of a draw for an 18-19 year old than playing on campus for a team that has had three straight NCAA trips, I have to disagree. Our current media coverage is, IMO, no greater than UA's and some might say less. Our beat "beat" reporter doesn't even talk about upcoming opponents other than the team's name. Mo White's departure wasn't even in the TU the day after it was announced - the Gazette had it but our "flagship" media outlet was silent. If you really agree with HJ that we'd get any local kid we want, then you are predicting the Heurter's are coming to Siena - NOT! The arena is a draw, no argument there but, as you have pointed out, it is a draw that our current staff is blind to. I also think that a local kid and his parents would have much more familiarity with our current HC and that might not be a strong selling point.

The funny thing is that Jordan took JO under his wing and was instrumental in his leap in development Jordan was the shoulder JO used through the tough freshman season. may be it was the City Rocks connection but Jordan always believed in JO when some had given up or never believed he was capable of being the player he was before his injury. So JO is sent on the European trip and it produced the desired result. No doubt JO benefitted from having Jordan on the staff as did the rest of the team....I just know how important his precence was for JO in particular

In addition to them, his other offers were Buffalo, Delaware, and Iowa State. So yeah, you should give him credit.

Buffalo and Deleware were real. Iowans State was before junior year when he got hurt and it vanished but it dies show he has that level of interest

Recruiting on even local level = coaches, venue, possible playing time at any given position, competitive level. By any standards UA has had a great 3 year run. Especially this year. If the kid know hoop, and his advisers they look at the UA body of work, they move up kiss NCAA post season goodbye. That's reality. Going forward not sure how well they will do unfortunately, 3 teams are really pushing them. So not sure appearance are a real factor.
