great story on Wincowski Wincowski still climbingJesus those are some BEAST numbers and yes i understand the level of competition... as State Class C Player of the Year last year in his Sophomore season... 27.3 ppg 5.8 rbs 5.1 steals 3.9 assists and now this... his Junior year 30.5 ppg 9.3 rbs 5.6 steals 3.9 assists Quote from his coach "Just an aura he has about him and the way he carries himself, he definitely makes everyone better." "He's driven. He's a hard worker" the more i see and hear about this kid the more I want him at Siena. He will absolutely be "one that got away" if he ends up elsewhere.

Wow, after 10 years on these boards we've found something to agree on.

I disagree these are not BEAST numbers have you seen ADK league class D competition. He's really good but if he's playing vs CCHS CBA AA he's not putting up those numbers. They're skewed big time. I get he's good and. a local kid but we have limited ships and there are better players out there ... Not sure he really fills a need .

ok so here goes...
First... those wondering why he doesnt play for the City Rocks. Has nothing to do with ability or lack thereof. He plays for the Northeast Shooters who happened to be coached by his father.
next...
- He played in the 16u age group which is very good. I believe he did so at the age of 15 which means he couldve played with the 15u team which had much softer competition. - They went undefeated in pool play in the Rumble In The Bronx. That is one of the best tournaments in the country - They won the Providence Jam Fest which is another damn good tournament for the East coast. - they beat the team that knocked the City Rocks out of the tournament. - They lost a close one to the #16 ranked AAU team in the country. - They were tied at half time with the #1 ranked team in the country and Wincowski was leading all scorers when he took a shot to the eye that prevented him from playing the second half and his team lost by 10 - in many of those games Wincowski led ALL scorers.
* - they also have wins over the Long Island Lightening and CT Select squads. and DC Assault

I'd take Wincowski ... best case he's Billy Baron. Worst case he's Mike Beers. The level of competition he's playing may be sub par but coaches who are good talent evaluators know if it can translate to better competition. But if we don't sign him (or at least try to) and he has a great college career we'll be regretting it for years. I trust in Jimmy.

If Jimmy thinks he's good enough to offer a ship and the kid accepts; that's good enough for me. So far I like the level of talent (and potential for that talent to improve immensely).
In Jimmy I (we) trust.

Again, I dont pay that much attention to recruiting but I dont think you can discount a kid that is dominant in high school as a sophomore just because he is from a small school. I always had a soft spot for Henry Steele type players. (bonus points for anyone who gets the reference)

Wincowski is a coaches son- so you know he will be fundamentally sound can certainly shoot the rock. He sort of reminds me of a former Patsos player Brett Harvy. I'm not sold on Joel- but he bears watching for sure
