Actually we should have been up at the half but Hymes blew an assignment and let Q hit a 3 at the buzzer. Hymes ran the offense fine in those last minutes. We just missed shots. And yeah the offense is going to bog down a little bit without Wright in there, but you seem to be overexaggerating this stretch. Hymes ran the offense fairly well with one or two mistakes. We simply weren't scoring because we weren't making shots, but Q was. I dont agree with you... funny how we dont Hit shots when Wright goes out.. same thing happened Iona game-- you are fooling yourself if you think offense ran fine with Wright out-- at one point Hymes started walking ball up court and I thought Jimmy's head was going to blow off he was yelling at Evan so hard to sprint the ball up court. We dont hit shots because quality of shots we get with Evan running point goes down dramatically. This isn't something new we have seen him at point 3 years now- even Jimmy says he is no PG-- he is a 2 in a ones body.

Well, once Long went we struggled inside where we were scoring a majority of our points in the first half. We scored more points in the paint then Q did in the first half and that was because of the presence of Lavon. Once he went out with foul trouble our offense bogged down. We began to struggle to score where we were dominating offensively. At that point we had to settle for outside shots.
The reason our offense bogged down with Lavon out is because we would try to play in the paint and down in the post but that wasn't working so we would have to kick it back out in the first half and that is what really slowed down our offense. Whether it was Wright or Hymes at that the point I don't think it would have made a difference.

Funny about the shot before halftime. J.O. blocked a shot right before the clock expired, and i said to the guy next to me, "Why can't guys block shots, and then control them instead of crushing it out of bounds?" J.O. came over to help and had all day to even CATCH that shot (ala Bill Russell), but he decided to spike it out of bounds and scowl. Great, but you gave the ball back to your opponent. I then predicted a "3" for them at the buzzer and sure enough.....
.....Murphy's Law ;(

I thought Longs fouling out was key. He had really started to establish himself at both ends of the court of late. The same is true of Wright who, not only find his teammates good shots in rhythm but is a real disruptive force I defence as well.
With both of them out and our bigs following behind it was a recipe for disaster. Which probably describes the end of that game and over time.
The larger punt is that there has been some real improvement made by both the upper classmen and the freshmen. Something we have not seen in years. It is nice to see Jimmy having a positive impact in this area. That is what good coaches do for their teams.

Lavon was a man among boys on offense Don't forget Brett and Silas combined 13 for 17 almost 77% against solid post players of QU. They did there part. Played solid all around games.

Lavon was a man among boys on offense Ever since he found his contacts, he's really upped his game. Can't wait to see him in the Quinny rematch game. I think he's really close to solving his fouling problem.

He's still tied for 1st in fouls in D1. Nothing has changed. He's good for 2 silly fouls a game, other times he gets caught using his arms as player drive past .... , it's gotta change! He spends too Much time sitting due to fouls and it's hurting us big time.

He's good for 2 silly fouls a game, other times he's constantly using his arms as player drive past .... , it's gotta change! He spends too Much time sitting due to fouls and it's hurting us big time. Coaches need to go to work. Give him 3 gears: 1. Play normally. 2. Still play defense, but be very conscious of how you defend. 3. Back off. And unless specified otherwise, never play so close to somebody in the backcourt you could get called for a foul. This may be simplistic, but as we saw yesterday, he is too valuable to be off the court, unless he needs a rest or JP otherwise wants it.

Early on, many of his fouls were on setting ball screens or help defense (hacking people so they don't score). Those are rare now. He was fine vs Niagara and often played man-to-man vs Mason. Last night he had a bad one 70ft from the basket. So it's not fixed for sure, but he's learning & adjusting.

How is he learning and adjusting? he fouled out again last night and even you said one was a dumb foul 70ft from the basket. This is a problem that has carried over from HS, but even worse at this level because he is fouling out of games. He was on his way to a possible huge game. With 8 minutes to go in the 1st half he had 11 of Siena's 26 points. That means in the last 37 minutes of the game he was only 2-4 for 5 points and I believe 1 rebound and the main reason for him becoming a non factor in the game was due to his fouling issues. This is a major issue for both Lavon and the team and it needs to be fixed, if it can.
