Saturday night no football, no sub zero temperatures, no excuses --- come to the tuc!! For a team that supposedly has no shot at fourth place, a win here will mean a tie for fourth once St. Peter beats rider tomorrow. Go saints!

This game is HUGE ... if Siena can pull it out we have a realistic chance at finishing 4th. We can win this game but it is going to take our best effort of the season!
The next step is beating a top team in the MAAC - Iona, Manhattan, Canisius and Quinnipiac - right now we are 0-4 with 4 more to go and 3 of those games at the TUC.
Quinnipiac is a really good team beat Manhattan twice and Iona already. They lost a tough game at home tonight against Canisius. Izotam and Drame are monsters inside both averaging double-doubles. Zaid Hearst and Umar Shannon form a very good backcourt. Also have a solid frosh Kasim Chandler and senior Shaq Shannon who comes off the bench.
Saints are looking for their first four game winning streak since the 2009-2010 season - the third straight MAAC championship winning team.

Saints will have their shot-- if you want to finish top 4 or 5 you have to be able to beat top 4 or 5 teams on your home floor. Saints can win, but will probably have to play their best game of the year. Quinny has more talent- a potent inside duo in Azotam and Drame in fact Quinny is statistically the top rebounding team in D1. Add in some guards that can score Quinny avg almost 78ppg– Bobcats don’t shoot particularly well , but offensive rebounds is a big part of their offense. I don’t want to make it like Quinny is unbeatable because nothing is further from the truth- but young Saints will have to play well to win, - not only will a top top 5 be in sight- a overall winning record will be within our grasp, a loss won’t necessarily kill those hopes but it will make it difficult

A few concerns about tomorrow's game
- So far this season, the one thing that Siena has been able to do effectively is rebound, but Quinnipiac is a better rebounding team than Siena. - Quinnipiac has scored over 65 points in all but one game this season. Siena's last three wins they scored 66, 64, and 64. They will have to score the ball more efficiently. - Siena has to have more energy on Saturday than they did last night, both in rebounding the ball (they were outrebounded by Niagara who isn't strong on the boards this year) and in their offensive assertiveness. Siena's bigs will have their hands full with Azotam and Drame, and Hearst is also a strong rebounder at his position. It's great that Siena rebounds by committee, but it's like Quinnipiac has 2.5 OD's.
I expect a great crowd Saturday night, and I think that the players need and deserve one.

I will say I am also very impressed with how well our big guys pass on the interior, I just wish we converted more. Imoh, Lavon, and Brett are all good passers and if we could make more of the layups and short bunnies we could get the offense into another gear

I think Wolfe needs to just head to the basket whenever a perimeter shot goes up. I am starting to believe he can catch and dunk anything orange that is in the general vicinity of the rim~

They get in the game and of course what do they do. Catch, one dribble, hesitation and then they try to shoot. They revert back to bad old habits. Silas has regressed recently, he was doing so well and now is hesitating and/or putting the ball on the floor. Both he and JO were receiving the ball way to far out of the low post last night. It was painful watching them receive the ball last night. They pull that sh#% Saturday night, they're going to be eating a lot of leather.

Looking at the standings and schedule for next weekend really shows how big tomorrow night's game is. May be asking for a lot but if Manhattan and Rider lose tonight and Siena beats Quinnipiac tomorrow night if my math is correct 1 game will separate 3rd-6th place. With the Saints playing SPU and FF next week and the Jaspers at Canisius 3rd or 4th place is not to delusional after next weekend. I may be jumping the gun here but at least we can have these types of conversations in February. First things first...lets beat Quinnipiac tomorrow night

Put in a bad place with that Monmouth loss. I know it was a long time ago but now they have to beat teams way better than Monmouth to make up for that loss. If there was a W for that game tomorrows game wouldn't be nearly as important. It would be nice to have a little breathing room.
That game really sticks in my craw....................

The first Iona game bothers me more. Siena had the game for the taking and couldn't close it out. The one game where I though the coaching staff blew it by not getting Wright out after he got the 4th foul.

Monmouth was on the road and they are not a bad team (same record as Siena has 10-12). They've beaten Canisius at home too. Rider wins tonight and stay a game ahead of us at 7-4. The game at Rider will likely decide if we can finish 5th. We need a split at least of these next two (Quinny and at SPU). Siena opens as a 2-point favorite against the Bobcats. Kinda surprised at that line.

Quinnipiac has not passed my eye test. They are a regular MAAC team, nothing special. At home, we should win.
