October 12th quotes from HOOPJUNKIE: "I don't need a lot of practices to determine who the better guys are". Quote. Another quote: "Wolfe is clearly our best big". Quote. Another quote: "And how incredibly I was disappointed with the lack of progress from Bisping(he called him a role player)". Quote. On Oct. 13th he quoted "My posts on Wolfe are directed to the fans that told us he wasn't ready to contribute to this team. they're wrong...DEAD WRONG". How's all that playing time for Wolfe working out. POTENTIAL AND PRODUCTION ARE TWO DIFFERENT ANIMALS. Do I need to go any further to prove Hoopjunkie has NO CREDIBILITY.

Well he was def wrong about Wolfe. I know his game and mindset well from knowing and watching him for a few years. He came here at 17 years old without a college ready body. I knew based on what we had his mins would be limited. Not strong enough to be a big and not skilled enough to play on the perimeter. He has alot of potential but it is not unusual for 6'9 guys to take a little longer to realize it. Had he gone prep he would not be at Siena next year. I wanted him to redshirt because I expected this to happen. That one practice did not change my mind.

Wolfe is the most talented big man to ever step foot on Sienas campus. Never seen akid that athletic, with that good a shooting touch ever wear our uniform. Is he ready right now mentally/physically ready to contribute? Obviously not. Both Bisping and Silas were HORRIBLE at the open practice. Wolfe showed me at that practice he needed to be on the team, and not redshirted, after that day. The whole WOLFE debate was on whether he should be redshirted or not. I said no, most said yes, but in the words PPC, "Jimmmy makes the decisons, not you guys." So I guess he felt the same way about our "big" situation by having Wolfe on the roster. Jimmy must have no crediblity too huh HOBBIT? lol Why don't you keep your mouth shut about how great Brett is, because everytime you do he shits the bed, like last night, and at Marist. Or both times against Iona. I hate talking lkke that about one of the hard working kids, but you need to stop acting like he's Kevin McHale. Jimmy did make a mistake not playing Wolfe this year. Whenever he got meaningful minutes he seemed to play well. IF he wasn't planning on playing him, he should have redshirted him. THIS year, I would have played him 15-20 min a night so he'd LEARN and be better prepared for the first season JP will be truly evaluated. So, yeah I would have sacrificed the experience Silas/Bisping have for the potential Wolfe has. Those two wish they had half the talent Wolfe has. He can't learn on the bench. So yes JP screwed this one up. ***Check out Wolfes numbers anytime he got more than 5 minutes a game. I'll stand by, IF, he got 15-20 min a game, EVERY NIGHT, "mrsiena" would be putting on his kneepads right now. Jimmy blew it buy not throwing this kid in the water from jump.

Siena doesn't have a master's program. The end.

That one practice did not change my mind. It must have changed Jimmys though huh? The only difference between JP and me, I would have played the kid, sink or swim, once I committed to having him on the team. This was a throwaway year. I'd rather go 10-21, then 13-18, BUT have Wolfe, and all the other freshman, get good, meaningful minutes. If Jimmy realized he wasn't going to play him after 6-7 games, he should have redshirted him. He blew that.

So yes JP screwed this one up. Agree on wolfe. With development and experience he can truly be a matchup nightmare. Very rare a kid with his size has his skill set in the MAAC. I was one that felt Wolfe should not have redshirt this year, but I thought he would get more playing time. I understand he would have struggled. I also understand that possibly it might have cost us a game or two, but this is the year of trying to begin to rebuild the foundation of the program so a couple possible losses this year may have meant more wins next year and going forward. Too be honest I am not as caught up with coming in 5th place. IMO, some on this board wanted to win games and develop the players and have them learn Patsos system. In a perfect world that would have been great but not very realistic. finishing out of 5th probably gets the kids an extra game in the MAAC tourney, which is not a bad thing. Once again in my opinion wolfe wasted a year of eligibility.

Problem with Wolfe is if Jimmy had red-shirted him he likely graduates by his junior season (unless his classes are staggered) and with Siena not having a graduate program (hopefully they'll add something other than in accounting in the future) Wolfe would essentially become a college "free agent" and potentially have a huge year for somebody else or just go pro (like Mason at Niagara will likely do).
Wright and Long both got major minutes this year and showed both have all-MAAC potential. White and JO got decent minutes. Wolfe did not see many minutes but I expect him to really improve by leaps and bounds in his sophomore season.
Jimmy needs to win every game possible with a demanding fan base. So no he is not going to sacrifice even one game to play someone who isn't ready to contribute.

I am not second guessing Jimmy on the redshirt (I could have gone either way, but you don't know what may have happened. By that I mean who knows what Wolfe told him - I don't want to stick around 5 years - you do that and I'm leaving. All supposition, I know). Also, not second guessing the PT. Getting beat up 15-20 mins/game would have helped him develop physically, but who knows how that would have affected his psyche. I will take it that he's developed the way Patsos wanted him to this year and we all have 3 more years to see him come into his own.

Plus he redshirted hopper and lost that ship so he probably needed Wolfe just for insurance. Anybody notice Hopper not even sitting on bench anymore? Probably realized he didn't to go to practice any more to keep ship until May

HJ, tough to eat that crow with the foot solidly stuffed in mouth. How come I couldn't find you when Kevin McHale threw the ball to Bowie last week?? NOW, you come out after he shits the bed AGAIN agaisnt a top level MAAC team? Yep, Brett is awesome!!! (I hate when dummies make me talk like that about good kids!! UGH!!) There's no crow to eat, Wolfe IS a better 4 year player than any big on our roster. I just wish wih JP played him the minutes he should have gotten. Sure it may have cost us a little this year, but the dividends it would have paid down the road would be great.

Hoopjunkie - if you can't admit that Bisping is solid player for Siena- then your delusional!
