And Poole will be a first team all-MAAC player next season. I love Poole but this is pretty arrogant to say. There are like 3 guys just on Iona who could put themselves there who all have arguably more impressive stats this year than Poole. Laury, English, Williams... Let's be real here. A lot of talent graduates but there's a lot of proven talent still around albeit mostly spread out thinly. What if Mason is stupid enough to return? There's another spot. Dominique, Drame, Hearst, Deon Jones, Hart, Jimm1e Taylor..are just the ones with higher FG% and/or better rebounders. Lewis most years.... Jeez, I just named 11. Big talk. Big talk.

Alright he'll be on the preseason 2nd team and if he has a big season potential to be on the 1st team in 2015. This year Poole is looking at third team.
Next year Rob Poole will have a big season...Cole is going to really open it up for him. Plus Wright/Long are going to be better around him.

I haven't seen Cole play so I'm not willing to anoint him the savior of Siena basketball not without seeing a few games first. On top of that the 2 recruits aren't exactly making me all that comfortable either. So before you say this and that is going to happen you might want to watch a little action first because all you have now is a whole bunch of speculation! Wright and Poole should be solid based on this year. Long can't stay on the floor for more than 20 min per game and that really has to change for Siena to be successful.

Nobody is saving Cole is the savior for Siena basketball. What he is will be a guy who can go for 15-20 any night and take heat off Poole. How many times this year has the team just throw the ball to Poole and hope he does something with it. Cole gives us that second scorer which we just don't have. Paige fills a need - he can shoot it and is athletic which we lack. He'll be a role player next year. Gottfried is going to be a walk-on. I do agree we need to add more pieces in recruiting this spring. Long does have to get the foul situation under control but I do see improvement. More is needed out of him in that regard for next season.

Robs stats are as good or better as Drame Hearst Jones and several others you list -- Rob will probably be 3rd team all MAAC this year and very good shot at 2nd team pre season next year -- and who cares about ALL MAAC anyway- I want to see team win

Backpedaling or re-evaluating? Bisping improved, Silas didn't. She's 1 for 2, but thinks shes smart. Obviously the coaching staff agreed with me on Wolfe or they would have redshirted him, right? So she's 1 for 3. Anyone that was at the green'gold game, or "open practice", whatever you wanna call it, saw how good White was. He's just never shot that well since! lol Cole is very good, and will help us as a 2nd scoring threat. We need the combo guard coming in this year to be the "scorer" when Poole graduates too. As for a "wasted year," it was...for Wolfe. IF I was the coach and decided to play him, thats what I'd do. PLAY HIM. Didn't he have like 4-5 dunks at Canisuis? His jumping ability would have helped on the baseline against that 3-2 zone. If the plan was to sit him, Pastos should have switched gears before Christmas, and invented a mysterious injury for him to miss the year.

I don’t think it’s back peddling- it does highlight the danger of putting too much stock into one practice. The coaches usually know best. There was a lot of talk of redshirting Wolfe and now we see why. At first blush Wolfe is obviously very gifted athletically , so hard to see in one practice he wasn’t strong enough – and the biggest problem I saw- he often became a ‘spectator” watching a shot and not reacting , not to mention his problems with being in right spot on the floor. Still think he has a world of potential if he can ever put it “together” ..I will caution this on anyone writing off JO or Wolfe, in the entire history of the MAAC there have only been a handful of big men ( 6’8” or bigger) that came in as impact freshmen- almost all big men take a year or two to develop ( including OD avg 2.7ppg his freshmen year) RR 1.9 ppg – I expect both to make the sophomore jump next year-- will come down to their work ethic

Patsos didn't have that go to scorer who could create his own shot outside of the poor man's version at 5'7". If either could score effectively this year they would've seen more time. Adding Cole Paige and yet to be named guard and Gottfried will go a long way to allowing more lineup options.

Backpedaling or re-evaluating? No, it was backpedaling. Yep, I'm almost certain. You forgot #4: Silas and Bisping aren't very good. Yep, no grey area here.

Poole is a borderline 2nd/3rd team all maac selection this year (will certainly be 3rd team, chance at 2nd team) He'll be a senior next year, coaches love seniors ... he'll have a chance at 1st team preseason. Wright will fight for a 3rd team preseason selection next year.
Wolfe hasnt caught up to the speed of the game yet. He struggles with where to be on the court and needs to put on muscle. He should have red shirted.
Saintsfan, if the lack of offensive fire power is what keeps Wolfe, JO and White off the floor, why does Silas get more minutes? Face it, Wolfe, White and JO are typical freshman and their minutes reflect how inconsistent they've been both on the court and in practice. All 3 have show flashes of what they could develop into.

Silas was playing back fence and even he winds up on the bench most crunch times. He plays the back fence because our "offensive" unit is pretty poor defensively. Having him protect the rim alleviates some of that

Silas is among the tops in the conference in both rebound rate and block rate. Even moreso, next year as guys like Brown Azotam, Heath and Kemp graduate. He'll only be behind Drame in returning rebs per 40 mins and Drame and big Gilbert in block rate.

And of course, Bisping is great now? lol I was 100% right about Silas, and Bretts stats after the Old Spice, (including scoring ZERO points vs rival UAlbany) was 6pts and 5reb. He was below average. Now he's up to 10ppg and 6reb, so he improved for sure in the 2nd half of the season. That can happpen with some players, and I'm glad it did. I'm not rooting against him. We need a big to do something if this team is going to win.
