I like it a lot. He graduated from Union where he played so he gets the importance of the program to the area. Was recruiting coordinator for UW and before that responsible for assessing prospects in the portal. Let’s go and finish the staff This will probably disappear shortly: Mike Hopkins promoted Ben Lee to Assistant Coach and Director of Recruiting for the 2023-24 season after Lee served as the Director of Basketball Operations in 2022-23. As Director of Basketball Operations, Lee managed the men’s basketball budget and played an integral part in transfer portal evaluations and opponent scouting. He supervised the video coordinator, graduate assistants and student managers and also managed recruiting visits. Lee collaborated with the marketing team and was in charge of scheduling home and away practices as well as all team travel. He helped oversee the team’s academic performance and was named Academic Coach of the Quarter in Autumn of 2022. Lee was a graduate assistant under Coach Hopkins during the 2019-2020 season while earning his Master’s in Education from the Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership Program. During his time as a graduate assistant, Lee worked on worked on player training and development, opponent scouting, program operations and post-game statistical analysis. He worked with Isaiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels, who were selected in the first round of the NBA Draft following their freshman seasons at UW. Prior to returning to Washington, Lee was the Director of Marquee Hoops and Vice President of Events for MADE Hoops, industry leaders in grassroots basketball. 83 of the top 100 players in ESPN’s 2023 Recruiting Rankings are MADE Hoops Alumni. Lee was a point guard at Union College (N.Y.) from 2015-2019 and was part of the first team in school history to win back-to-back league championships. He was a team captain and received the Paul Rieschick award for “exemplifying the team concept through desire, attitude, and loyalty to the program.” He earned a bachelor's degree in economics.

Now is the time for all who we’re giving up our season tickets to show support for a new beginning by signing up again. I will. Our president made a decision to make Siena a top program again and getting our fans to the games is a good start. Go Siena !!

I'll be back haven't been to a game since COVID. I will admit it's pretty easy to watch on ESPN+. I have a feeling things got so bad a big improvement or a Maac championship it could be one and done, we've seen it twice already.

If they win a maac championship after one year and he goes on to other things, I’m fine with that after the drought Siena has had. Take the buyout and reinvest in another top coach. Every coach in the country would have just seen how you can go from 4 wins to conference champion and a bigger job in one year.

This account is saying lead assistant. That correct goldsaint? Ben Lee looks like a great hire! A rising star that had the City Rocks connection at Washington too. I don’t know how accurate the lead assistant statement is though. Hopefully GS can answer that. I would be a little worried having a 27 year old as our lead guy. Ben was the 4th assistant on Washington’s staff this past year.

I would love to see one former saint as either DOBO or 3rd assistant. We need a good defensive coach too

I agree if we could win the MAAC championship and make the NCAA tournament one year after the worst season in Siena history and GMAC got an offer he couldn’t refuse I’d sign for it in a heartbeat. And it can definitely happen with the right players because everyone is basically bringing in a new team every year. I hope Siena put a good buyout in that they get compensation when/if the coach moves on. But considering GMAC is only going to his second school ever at 40 years old —unless Syracuse opens up —I think he’ll be here for at least a few years.

But it has happened twice before here. Now a complete rebuild is much easier

I'm keeping my expectations reasonable for now. A few mitigating factors this season:
He's going to have a relatively late start to recruiting. Even if he started recruiting the moment Siena reached out to him, he's still months behind existing coaches. He also still needs to build his coaching staff fully.
He also has to get through the players that haven't entered the transfer portal yet. He won't even know how many scholarships he's got until that's determined.
If he is top half of the conference next season, I'll be happy. Anything above that is gravy. The season after is the real test.

The only thing he's behind is recruiting HS kids and thats about 10-20% of todays recruiting. Its all about the portal, and he's a couple weeks behind. We're fine.

He's a couple weeks behind if you assume recruiting only started when the portal opened. But yes, I agree we're fine. I'm just not expecting a massive season out the gate. He still only has one assistant so far, and hasn't even been introduced by the school officially.

So many teams have to start over year after year. He has plenty of time to put team together. Siena players entering portal early also helps
