G I have to assume this guy has sources "very close" to GMac. So close that there may be zero degrees of separation.

While I was hoping for someone with proven head coaching experience after reading the article I'm excited for the possibility of gmac being our new coach. I certainly enjoyed his competitive fire in his playing days. He seems to get the work ethic coaching requires, and seemingly has a support system in place. I especially like this part:
"Programs with tradition and institutional support, with passionate fan bases and the potential to win league championships and compete in the NCAA Tournament appeal to him.
He will not sacrifice the stability and joy of his Syracuse job, he said, for anything less.
“I want to take a job that lures me the same way I was lured as a recruit to Syracuse,” he said. “Somewhere I believe in. Somewhere that has incredible support. Somewhere that believes in me. Somewhere that I believe I can win at a high level because I’d have all those components.”
My other concern remains the supposed difference in salary. I hope Siena has a way to close this gap either this year or in his second year with incentives. But let's get it done!

What a clown, crapping on Siena and the MAAC. I guess Siena deserves it for neglecting the program for so long.

The MAAC was at its best during Fran’s time at Siena!Great teams around the MAAC with solid coaches! And they could give lots of teams a run for their money in any given night!

Not so sure about this guy - he doesn't even know the current name of the MVP Arena!!! Just hope he is right. McNamara would be a "home run choice". I was thinking Brown would at least be a good choice, but McNamara hire knocks it out of the park. I am renewing my tix!!!!!!!!!!! Go Saints!!

He's not wrong...currently. Siena has the ability to raise the profile of the league like no other school in the conference. When Siena is good, it is good for everyone (except maybe other league coaches). Siena can quickly be re-established as a solid mid-major. Let's hope GMac can get it done. At this point I'm not going to get too excited. They all say the right stuff at the podium day 1. Let's see where we are this time next year.

It's a no brainer. Siena is one of the worst basketball teams in all of D1 right now. 4-34 last 38 games. Siena sucjs as does the MAAC right now and Gmac is a home run, triple crown, pick as the future of basketball at Siena. It may be a short stay but it needs to be done.

If Gmac is a go I’m very interested to see who’ll be assisting. He needs to assemble a decent staff. I hope we tweaked the payscale. Carm’s rotating door of assistants (especially during peak recruiting periods) was a killer, as was deferring most recruiting decisions to a guy that was a bit out of touch with the game today. We never seemed to be able to close deals on key targets and the more assistants moved on the worse it became.
