Patsos hasn't won any up games against Bcs teams with winning records in nine seasons. Toole is only 32 -- how can people fault pitino for his age and not toole? Rhoades has never been a d1 head coach-- not sure why pitino is faulted for his one year when it is more than Rhoades.

Call it a hunch I dont think Pitino is coming. I believe he would have been much more interested in Siena if it was certain they were staying in MAAC- in fact if Hofstra doesn't hire Cluless I can see Pitino going there, the CAA is gutted- a much easier place to win if you are looking for a quick hitter

Interesting observation Tony you could be right but I would hope he would be up to the challenge of making us a contender in the A10. If he's looking for a resume builder and a quick hit then I'd just prefer that he or anyone else like that look elsewhere!
If that's the case then I prefer Toole. I believe he's a up and comer. Reminds me of Stevens at Butler.
BTW do we know if Paulsen is in the mix? I really haven't heard his name in connection to Siena other than here.....

Patsos is a no-brainer. Built a consistent program, won a title, won "up" games on the road, will be a homerun with fans, media, boosters (which will be absolutely critical when it comes to moving up in class and having to shake down boosters for cash) and his players do nothing but rave about him. He knows Siena, he has never been shy about his feelings about the Siena job. He knows how important it is to the fans, area, school. Out of the list of candidates - he is the only one who knows exactly what he can do with Siena and I'm certain he's been preparing for this for quite some time. I've listened to his coaches shows in Baltimore, watched his local TV appearances, followed him in the MAAC - he would be a homerun. Pitino will drag a couple of low-life transfers with him, go .500 next year and Rutgers (Big 10) or Seton Hall (Big East) will hand him their job when they can Rice and Willard next season. what UP games has Patsos won? ??............of the group we have listed, only Paulsen has giant killer status..........and I guess to some degree you can add Toole to that as well, having knocked off Kentucky recently, doesn't get much larger than that!!!!!!!!! Won at Indiana when IU was down.

If he was such a hot commodity would he still be there....plus he's a clown, I really don't care for his antics toned down or not! We need someone who is respected and can rebuild the program, in its current state the Siena program is in shambles!

Maybe not-- just saw Niagara's Joe Mihalich interviews at Hofstra tomorrow Maybe Mihalich is just looking for a raise according to hoopdirt( and they have a lot of junk so take with grain of salt) Iona head coach Tim Cluess is emerging as the leader at Hofstra. I have heard a ton of names that are said to be “involved”, but Cluess is very strong here. He is a Hofstra alum and has won 70 games in three seasons at Iona. Before taking over at Iona, he was the head coach at LIU Post where he compiled a 98-23 record in four seasons. He also spent 14 seasons as the head coach at St. Mary’s HS on Long Island where he went 264-78. I will publish my complete list of candidates tomorrow, but Cluess is definitely the “hot” name right now.

The only reason Pitino doesn't come here is because D'Arg doesn't want him. If he's offered the job, and it's at least $1.2m/4 yrs, he's our coach.
D'Arg might have a hard time looking at Pitino and not thinking he's a senior in college. He's only 30, but looks 22. This could be an issue, and that's why I think he prefers Rhoades.

Good writeup on Toole's work being done at RMU. I like the reference to a "lofty" goal "such as an A10 team" .... or maybe a soon-to-be A10 team

I agree with oneindian, "no pastos". Even though he's a likeable guy, good with the press/fans and has toned down his antics he's not the coach to take Siena to the "next Level"! I said it before, if D'Argenio goes with him it's a comfort hire and Siena will wind up like Marist back in the Magarity days. It may also be an indicator that the move to the A10 is out the door and the Siena admin has already made the decision to stay in the MAAC. I noticed 4GuysinBlazers has Brady down as one of the the "finalists" that D'Arg is bringing onto the campus for interviews. If he gets the job, which I hope he doesn't, does Mike Deane come along with him?

What's Rhoades' story? I haven't seen as much about him and yet he's on a list of 4 names, 3 of which I think are slam dunks.
