read on twitter (so it must be true!) that Fairfield thinking about leaving too? anyone else hear that? Seems like most of the message boards I read was left with impression AE is trying to poach teams from the MAAC. Fairfield was in discussion with CAA but obviously that didn't happen. At least not yet as the CAA may offer more schools. Take all that with a grain of salt.

At this level does conference really matter? If Pitino stays at Iona they won't be beat, it might be a good time to look for a different conference.

Jaden Daly ( dalydoseofhoops) Tweeted: Rick Pitino: “I love that I don’t have to get on a plane to play somebody…I love the bus trips. We’ve just gotta make sure we don’t let the league disintegrate, because Monmouth’s leaving and there’s a rumor that Fairfield’s leaving.” #ICMBB

A rising tide lifts all boats, could be great for the league overall. If you’re afraid of Pitino Siena should’ve hired him.

Back in October CAA announced they were looking to expand into two divisions (North & South) as a means to reduce travel costs … “Monmouth and Fairfield are viewed as potential CAA members for a north division, with UNC Greensboro a potential member in the south.”

Stony Brook barred from AE tourneys. Any clause like that for the MAAC/Monmouth?

What p*ssy attitude...Pitino's here so we can't win so let's find a new conference. Talk about non-competitive. The MAAC has sent 2 teams to the tourney in the past. Sure, not often but still. I'm glad the players and Carm don't have that kind of attitude. If we had all our pieces this year, we'd be right there with Iona...probably not as good an overall record as we need more time to gel but for league play we'd likely be rolling. We should be in the A10. Siena leadership is highly risk averse and pretty poor (IMO) but that should have been a done deal. They like being the big fish in a small pond. I just hope the pond doesn't get too much smaller. I mean, why not step down to the NEC and really kick @$$?
If the MAAC loses Monmouth and Fairfield we really need some decent teams to replace them. I'd love Holy Cross. I'm not sure who else would fit the bill. Heck, if the travel budget is such a concern (reason for not going A10) let's bring up St. Rose. They played us competitively and it would be a quick bus trip.

Stony Brook barred from AE tourneys. Any clause like that for the MAAC/Monmouth? MAAC commissioner made a statement that the leagues rules don’t prohibit schools leaving from competing in league tournaments and representing the league in the NCAA tournament. Personally I think that is wrong. If you decide to leave at the end of the year you shouldn’t get the opportunity to represent the league in the NCAA’s.

[/quote I read that Monmouth would be able to participate in MAAC championships but there is a $1 million exit fee for short notice departures from the conference.

Read that one team already commited to AE. That could be Bryant as referenced below.
NEC pickings getting slim at this point. If Wagner hasn't been mention for AE, I'm starting to think they'll be headed to the MAAC.
Sam Perkins (@onebidwonders) Tweeted: For those who only care about basketball, Bryant to the AE according to people in the know. Sacred Heart, Merrimack reportedly in talks, as well as some others. Despite message board guarantees, I Haven’t heard from anyone remotely reputable that Quinnipiac is close to happening
