Ensor has been talking 12 teams for years. I wouldn't be shocked if MAAC adds 2 teams.
Mark Singelais (@marksingelais) Tweeted: Ensor added the MAAC has been committed to expansion “for some time” to 12 teams and are still involved in that process. Losing Monmouth would leave the league at 10.

so i guess the question is: does the maac add 2 more teams or just leave it at 10? Only reason they should consider expanding is if two CAA schools without football programs (Drexel, Northeastern, Hofstra) decide they don't want to be in a conference dominated by the football schools. I see no reason to expand to 12 otherwise.

So does the MAAC do to Monmouth, what the CAA did to James Madison (and other schools that announced they were leaving the CAA) and ban them from league championships and NCAA bids. Assuming it’s true, and confirmed this season, would you ban Monmouth from the tournament?

The only reason to pick a conference team is if it increases your revenue stream. Neither Quinny or Monmouth had won their tourney prior to coming here. Predictably, they haven't won here either. The argument that you need them to keep a viable conference is invalidated when you consider there are any number of jokers willing to join our conference if we let them.

At least the MAAC no matter how many teams it has will not be inaccurately labeled like the A10 and the Big 10. I don't know offhand if there are any other conferences that can't count over two hands worth of fingers.

Add Albany and then we would have a home- home every year and be done with it. Just kidding

Assuming it’s true, and confirmed this season, would you ban Monmouth from the tournament? TU reports the following. MAAC bylaws would still allow Monmouth to compete in conference tournaments and be eligible for NCAA Tournament bids this season.

Good info in this article. Didn't know Robert Morris was close to joining the MAAC in 2020. Kyle Franko (@kj_franko) Tweeted: Conference realignment shuffle lands on MAAC's doorstep t.co/EF78srUHQT

Monmouth is > UA basketball-wise, but UA to the CAA makes more sense to me. Maybe the CAA sees themselves as a basketball conference and not a football conference. Of course, I'm somewhat biased given UA is among my alma maters and I would like to see the level of basketball there increase from the AE quality. I would think they need to step up their game in the AE first. And in FB.

Monmouth loses to Iona tonight in OT by 1 Iona had twelve players contribute while Monmouth had only eight. When Monmouth was tearing up the league a few years ago they had great depth. At least two deep at every position.

At least two deep at every position. Monmouth had 8 players average double digit minutes in both of their really good years, they have the same 8 averaging double digit minutes this year. You may be thinking of St Peter's who goes crazy deep on their bench.

Looks like 2 more teams coming in, or at least that's the plan. I know 10 teams seems attractive but in the ever changing landscape having more teams is probably the safest bet. Keeping in mind you need 7(?) teams to remain NCAA eligible.
If that 7 team number is accurate AE is dangerously close to losing eligibility. AE with another departure not named NJIT could be below that magic number of 7.
Adam Zagoria (@adamzagoria) Tweeted: .@maaccommish told me via Zoom the goal would be to get to 12 schools for the 2022-23 season, which would mean adding 2 new schools with the departure of Monmoth
