Why is the extra year a travesty? Nobody got a normal year this year. Most probably won’t even use it anyway. It was asking for trouble. It's a lot of the reason for this huge portal. Now you potentially got 5 years of kids on a team. This hurts the freshmen coming in. More expenses due to extra scholarships putting extra burden on the small schools. I never liked this idea. NOBODY has had a normal year. Can I get mine back? Does my daughter get to go a regular graduation and get the last 3 months (the best ones) of her HS career back? That's life. Most schools got at least half their schedule in. I see what you're saying but I doubt many use it. The bigger thing is the elimination of the no sit out rule. That's where the chaos will start. Most top players want to get paid. Not many will stick around for that extra year IMO.

And even worse if it's only the lesser players that use the extra year. But we may see an impact of that for 3 more years. What do you mean about the no-sit rule? You LIKE it? I WANT it eliminated. I have less of a problem with that for just THIS year. The extra year was wrong.

The strategy for Siena and Carm going forward should be basically taking a high number of transfers with at least two years (preferably three years) or eligibility. Once you get a transfer they can't move again without sitting out. Taking mostly freshmen doesn't make much sense anymore. Maybe an elite one who helps you get to the NCAA tournament and moves on. But the days or Hasbrouck, Franklin, etc are gone now. We now have four open 'ships - at least three need to go to impact transfers.

How’s this for a wild prediction...King Rice calls his old teammate Hubert Davis up and convinces him to offer Pickett to come to UNC. I love Jalen but he’d get eaten alive in the ACC

The last 10 months have basically been a mass exodus to the door. Carey, Tate, Harris, Camper, King, Fuller and now Pickett. No big deal when you lose your bottom players to transfer (see Iona), but when the top half of your team all leaves at once, something is wrong.
This team starts from scratch now. Doesnt matter who we bring in, they'll all be new.
Hopefully someday we'll get the truth with what really happened. Nobody wants to hear from Jalens HS coach. We want to hear it from him.
With that, I wish Jalen nothing but success at his next destination. Hopefully basketball will be fun for you again. Not sure I saw you smile all year on the floor like we used to.

Manny is 22 years old and graduating. He wants to get paid. We lost Harris to COVID shutdowns (risk of California kids). Tate had some issues. Carey was a JC guy and graduated. King who knows sounds like he wanted to get out of Albany. Harley is the third assistant - they usually move on. Jalen is chasing the NBA. Probably the noise in his ears at Easter tipped him over the top. Doesn't matter if they're new. Are they good? Most of Iona's guys will be new too.

Have to say Carm is on the hot seat 🔥
Maybe that's a bit dramatic but indeed the spotlight is on Carm.
Program was sold on hope. Hope Carm could keep players, bring in new stars and work a strong city rock connection. I'm not seeing it.

He's 32-15 and Siena got jobbed out of at least one if not two NCAA bids because of the rotten virus. He kept Jalen for two years. Let's see who we sign. We definitely have to get some impact transfers now.

I'm not as harsh or as dramatic as you are about it, but we really get to see what Carm has now. He's won the league twice. Now he has some real adversity. Let's see how he deals with it. But I wouldn't call it the hot seat.

Nothing to see here.

If a brand new coach takes Siena two his first two consecutive seasons as head coach to the MAAC regular season is “on the hot seat”; God help any future Siena coach from not doing that their first two seasons.

While I’m happy for Jalen as a person/player I’m depressed and sadden as a Siena fan.
I really believed deep inside that he would stay all four (and possibly 5) years to prove all the nay sayers wrong who though he wouldn’t stay.
I guess I believed it too much to be true.
