I don’t think Jalen’s leaving had anything to do with Iona, it’s more about a free year & no penalty & the ability to step up the competition and level of play.

Over estimating Pitino and Iona. Two guard pickups are potentially very good but I love Pickett as a player but if he or anyone else leaves because of fear of another program, who would want them anyway? I think they would be the prohibitive favorite. Even before Jalen left. Perhaps, but then again Siena was the huge favorite going into this year. How’d that turn out? Pickett is a champion and supremely confident. He is the kind of kid who believes he is the best player in the floor every time he suits up and no one is going to beat him.

I don't have a problem with this and think maybe it works out for everyone. Pickett can move up and measure against the big boys and frankly, I'm tired of all the back to the basket from 20+ ft out.

I wish Jalen good luck. I can see why he wants to "move" up free year, no sit out. A no brainer. I'm not so convinced we should go the transfer route , unless its a 3 year kid. With all these transfers going on, not a lot of AAU ball last year or high school ball for that matter, a lot of under the radar kids. Next year is setting up as a rebuilding year. So lets bring in some real good young talent

Certainly not saying that was the only or even major factor, but I wouldn't think it's not off the table. As I said, two years ago I assumed he was leaving this year anyway. Think I said when he came back that I would be happy if we got 3 years out of him. With the no-sit and extra year (which is a travesty), I am not surprised at all.

Nobody got a normal year this year. Most probably won’t even use it anyway.

All ready removed from the roster. I saw that. Kind of petty by Siena IMO. He played on the team this year. They all did. Don't remove them.

Nobody got a normal year this year. Most probably won’t even use it anyway. It was asking for trouble. It's a lot of the reason for this huge portal. Now you potentially got 5 years of kids on a team. This hurts the freshmen coming in. More expenses due to extra scholarships putting extra burden on the small schools. I never liked this idea. NOBODY has had a normal year. Can I get mine back? Does my daughter get to go a regular graduation and get the last 3 months (the best ones) of her HS career back? That's life. Most schools got at least half their schedule in.

So lets bring in some real good young talent But doesn’t the fact that there was minimal AAU and even HS basketball make those HS prospects even less prepared to contribute quickly? And if they do come in and light it up they just transfer out to a higher level after a year. I think the safer route is find solid transfers with 2-3 years of eligibility. They won’t leave again and the chances for success the next couple years is much greater. I’ll take 4 Elijah Burns over any HS prospects we can get at this point.

I wish Jalen the best. He should land at a power conference team where his strengths and pace of play fit. If Carey can go Big East, Pickett certainly land at that level.

How’s this for a wild prediction...King Rice calls his old teammate Hubert Davis up and convinces him to offer Pickett to come to UNC.
