Have to say Carm is on the hot seat 🔥 Maybe that's a bit dramatic but indeed the spotlight is on Carm. Program was sold on hope. Hope Carm could keep players, bring in new stars and work a strong city rock connection. I'm not seeing it. If a brand new coach takes Siena two his first two consecutive seasons as head coach to the MAAC regular season is “on the hot seat”; God help any future Siena coach from not doing that their first two seasons. Success isn't always measured in the W column.

Guess I am just old school...as loyal to everything important to me as a person can possibly be. I loved Siena from the time my Dad (Siena '51) started taking me to games the year the ARC opened. I was in fifth grade...and already knew where I was going to college. Always loyal to my alma mater. It's just hard to swallow that people aren't like that anymore. So yeah, I am heartbroken as a Siena grad and fan, but still wish Jalen the best. It's just gonna hurt so much seeing Iona cut down the nets every March until something changes there. Maybe I shouldn't take these things so seriously. As always, Go Saints!!

While I’m happy for Jalen as a person/player I’m depressed and sadden as a Siena fan. I really believed deep inside that he would stay all four (and possibly 5) years to prove all the nay sayers wrong who though he wouldn’t stay. I guess I believed it too much to be true. This is now the new college basketball landscape ... I’m resolved that in the future there will be a 50-75% turnover of players each season

I don't have a problem with this and think maybe it works out for everyone. Pickett can move up and measure against the big boys and frankly, I'm tired of all the back to the basket from 20+ ft out. I'm sorry to say that I agree with everything you just said. He was a great Saint but this year with Covid and everything that transpired, I think he needs a change of location, a fresh start and new experiences. And Carm needs to install that running and attacking offense we all want. Fresh legs in waves, loading up with athletic guards and wings.

I admit to being somewhat surprised at Jalen’s decision, because six weeks ago based on information I received from a very reliable source, Jalen was staying. However, having had some time to think about it, he has two years to prove himself at a higher level and presumably give the NBA another try in 2022. He can’t transfer now and try the NBA now, because he could potentially bag the transfer and go get drafted this summer. If that were to happen a Power Six school would be scrambling to fill the ‘ship that had been given to Jalen.
In any event, Jalen did a lot to turn this program around and I wish him all the best as he pursues his dreams.
Now go get DeVon Baker, Hameir Wright and one of the Gaines (Devonte or Anthony).

Jalen never looked happy after he came back from the mid-season injury. I'm not surprised by this. That said, the NCAA needs to reinstate the sit-out rule. I'm fine with no penalty if there's a coaching change but this just makes it too easy for kids to bounce around. It isn't good for the kids, the coaches or the game.

After getting benched at Colgate last year.. JP never felt the same to me.

We’ve haven’t seen a comment from Carm after he was notified by Pickett in Thursday’s meeting. I’m sure one’s in the works.
I have no doubt the program was taken a bit by surprise, but I’m guessing if this was in backs of a lot of peoples minds, Carm/staff had to be thinking about a Pickett move as a distinct possibility.
Given the NCAA free year and no sit penalty, it’s a no brainer for Pickett to make a move.
Almost 1300 players & counting in the portal, NCAA hoops is a hot mess due to the recent rule changes.
While this was awful news for the Siena faithful, it’s hard to call the move shocking. Judging by recent trends it’s probably not the last player either. ☹️
We’re definitely going to look different next year.
Until NCAA reevaluates get use to pulling for a jersey not a player!

To add to HJ's point we were winning and we had all these transfers. MTS does have explanations for each above but it is concerning.

Not completely shocking. Sorry to see him go. Provided lots of exiting moments and wins over the past 3 seasons. Curious to see where he lands and how his game/skills perform at a higher level. Maybe not being the most or one of the most talented players on the roster will help him. Will he become a better player with better talent around him and playing against stiffer competition? I still do not believe he is NBA level talent. Wish him all the best. Carm has a lot of work to do to get Siena back to a MAAC contending team next season.

The last 10 months have basically been a mass exodus to the door. Carey, Tate, Harris, Camper, King, Fuller and now Pickett. No big deal when you lose your bottom players to transfer (see Iona), but when the top half of your team all leaves at once, something is wrong. This team starts from scratch now. Doesnt matter who we bring in, they'll all be new. Hopefully someday we'll get the truth with what really happened. Nobody wants to hear from Jalens HS coach. We want to hear it from him. With that, I wish Jalen nothing but success at his next destination. Hopefully basketball will be fun for you again. Not sure I saw you smile all year on the floor like we used to. I agree with a winning record and two regular season titles, why are guys bolting? Something is not right. Could be nothing but does seem strange.
