Brown-Robinson-Bennerman-Moore-Hasbrouck-Ubiles
Those are elite Siena players. We can only hope that the some of current Saints and incoming players can rise to the talent level and competiveness of those names. As good as Jalen is, I think I would rank him behind all 6 of those players in terms of talent and complete skill set.

7 guards and it's still not clear to me who runs the half-court offense. Give the keys to McCollum I guess?

I get that, but we just lost one of the greatest floor generals in school history. Don't get me wrong I'm happy with Gaines and the incoming freshmen but that's a big hole to fill

The great programs just keep bringing in good players. Love Jalen but like you said they only stay a certain amount of time anyway. I'd be fine if we land an NBA player (legitimate first rounder) someday and they declare early.

Jalen was a very, very good player at Siena his first two seasons. No question about it. Unfortunately, this past season Jalen was limited by injury, and was not able to produce at anywhere near the same level he did his first two years. MAAC Rookie of the Year and MAAC Player of the Year. Extremely impressive. So I'm not trying to minimize Jalen's skill, abilities or contributions in the least, but I think that characterizing him as "one of the greatest floor generals in school history" is over the top.

To be clear by "floor general" I mean running the offense, not necessarily scoring ability. I can't really speak to Brown and Bennerman since they're before my time and the stats from back then aren't great, they were obviously amazing scorers but not sure about their playmaking ability compared to Moore and Pickett (no one else is in the conversation IMO). Despite a subpar Junior year and no Senior year, here's Pickett's career AST% and TOV% compared to Ronald Moore: Moore: 32.0 AST%, 20.8 TOV% Pickett: 36.7 AST%, 13.7 TOV% Jalen's AST% and TOV% his freshman year would both be Moore's career best. You can say that Moore was the engine of an all-time great Siena offense (which also included players way more talented than any of Jalen's teammates) while Pickett is more of a floor-raiser - and that's why I said "one of" the greatest floor generals - but Jalen's vision and PnR acumen is something I won't expect to see at the MAAC level again for a long time. And I mean, the guy won conference POY and made the first team 3 times so he should absolutely be in the conversation with other Siena greats.

I don't see how that's a controversial statement, Pickett's absolutely among the best in Siena history. compared to Moore and Pickett (no one else is in the conversation IMO) Are we forgetting about someone so soon? Moore: 32.0 AST% | 20.8 TOV% Wright: 29.2 AST% | 18.8 TOV% Pickett: 36.7 AST% | 13.7 TOV%
