All you need to know about Fairfield- 3 NCAA trips (none since 1997 as a 16 seed). And the program wrecker has two of their NCAA trips. First choice will be George Mason... and we'll be #2 I would think. If they invite us I would have to believe the Siena admin will take it. It's time to ditch the MAAC! This is a league that would be one of the better non-BCS leagues in the country: North - Siena St. Joe's UMass Rhode Island Fordham St. Bonaventure South - George Mason Richmond VCU George Washington LaSalle Duquense WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS HAPPEN !!!!!! Siena would make a ton of MONEY. The Admin. would be foolish not to jump ...make it happen Father Kevin.

If those were the 12 teams, I think you would put Duquesne in the north and St. Joe's in the south and you would have the correct divisions. I see Duquesne and Bona as travel partners, as I do the two Philly schools.

And even if Xavier, ST Louis, Dayton and Butler leave A10 no guarantee A10 expands .. chill out and let’s see how this plays out

Those are NOT balanced divisions. The South would be brutal. So yeah, I'd love to see Siena in that configuration! But, it won't happen.
Conferences are moving away from using divisions for basketball. Divisions are needed in football, but basketball can just do guaranteed rivals and rotating round robin series.
And a high-major conference like the A-10 would not use travel partners. Even the MAAC usually doesn't use travel partners, except for the Western New York trip.

Davidson and George Mason wre getting the first two A-10 invites per Pete Thamel. Siena and Charleston after that if A-10 wants to add four.

His exact quote was " What happens to A-10? Big decision is adding 2 or 4. Mason and Davidson first. Then maybe Siena and Charleston? "

Since 1998
NCAA appearances
Davidson- 6 Siena- 5
NCAA wins
Davidson - 3 Siena - 3 (yes counting the PIG over Alcorn State in 2002)
20 win seasons
Davidson - 9 Siena - 8
Davidson's attendance last 11 years (only close in the Curry years) They play in a 5300 seat arena.
3941 3957 3533 3945 5253 6271 3721 3641 3276 3015 3671
Davidson also has very tough academic standards and geographically aren't really a fit in North Carolina. Their current conference the SoCon (where Fran came from at UNCG) is usually below the MAAC. Not taking anything away from Davidson they are a very good program but much of their success is also tied to an all-time player AND ONE coach (Bob McKillop)
George Mason gets the first invite for sure... Siena/Davidson (Charleston less so) are close but I like Siena's chances if they are willing to give Siena a pass for the last three seasons. Hopefully they will see the ENTIRE body of work.

Siena has 4 NCAA tourney wins. Stanford in '89, Alcorn St. in '02, Vandy in '08, and Ohio St. in '09.

I was just on with Mike Francesa and I asked him about this the A10 in regards to Davidson, George Mason, Siena and Charleston. He said " you can't predict what's going to happen at that level " Siena must put the pressure on... if they want the A10 to happen . You just hope the Admin is being aggressive when it come to this- and not waiting by the phone

We shall see...I'd be very surprised if Davidson was offered or if they would accept--you think Siena is small Davidson has about 2000 students..the CAA has tried to get them to upgrade for years..cant see them in a conference with all the northern teams.. too much travel time, lost class time and too expensive George Mason will undoubtedly - be first on the list... and the last 3 years will not help Siena a bit ( thanks Mitch)
and hey maybe only Xavier and Butler go... or maybe A10 decides to stay at 10..once C7 makes official invites, we shall see how many A10 teams going
