Right. He could have had AP credits from HS. Plus these kids take classes every summer and since he's a smart kid, could have taken more than the regular course load when he sat the year. I don't begrudge an ambitious kid who wants to get his degree early. You're missing the point..... Maybe I'm missing yours, but you're equally missing mine. I get that you don't want the kid to leave and think we gave him too much. I disagree. I don't believe in holding a kid back, esp when it comes to his education and degree(s). This society dumbs athletes down enough.

Don got screwed over by JC plain and simple. After following him and burning his redshirt year the coach bailed on Don and the program. Carm and Carey made the best of the crappy situation Don was left in. It is a shame we didn't know he was gone a few months ago to fill that spot but it makes sense Don wanted to be sure he could graduate early before announcing anything. Chances are there won't even be a season at this point and none of it will matter. This board has been hysterical about the ChinaVirus since March. There will be some kind of a season. If there’s not college basketball as we know it will struggle to ever come back. completely unnecessary to throw in some good ole right wing bias here Mike.

These former Shen students can get out of control. Who taught them

But you’re the first guy to rip the school if they take away a kids scholarship because he can’t play here. So basically the “4 year commitment” (3 year in Carey’s case) only goes one way? I don’t want any kid at Siena that doesn’t want to be here. WHY the sped up graduation wasn’t made clear to the head coach is my issue. Carey should have been transparent about his intentions. Carm clearly got blindsided here and it’s put the team in a bad position.

And again, if you don't think the coach knew how close he was to graduating, you're either naive or you take him for a fool.

Because he knew Don was leaving?? Figured the recruiting pool would be full in mid-July??lol, THAT's naive.

I think people can easily have views about the virus along the entire spectrum without connection to any political bias or affiliation.

It seemed to me that for a good portion of last year, Don struggled to get comfortable with his role on the team and seemed to lose his confidence in either his game or the role he was asked to play. The Fairfield away game seemed to be his turning point last year and from there on he played terrific. Hate losing a good player, an excellent student and from what I hear, a great kid. I never was comfortable with him at the point so if he feels that’s his desired role, then Siena is not the right spot for him. I will miss him as I hoped he would pick up where he left off last year. He obviously values his education and based on what I’ve seen, he will be very successful even after he decides to hang up his sneaks. Best of luck Don and thanks for a memorable run last year.

Don is the only player Ive ever heard of leaving as a graduate with 2 years of eligibility left. Carm thought he was leaving....in '21, not '20 and the teams current recruiting activity proves that.

Im sure the word is out. 3 years free education--for--1 year on the court. Thats a players deal all day long! Yeah. And how many can do that? Anyone that is motivated to move on and gets free classes.
