Cremo had 1500 points after his junior year. No surprise he got his pick of places to be a band aid while a top team waited for the 5 star kid to replace him.
Carm should have shut down summer classes to Carey. THEN have a conversation about what the hurry was? End of the day we get left holding the bag by paying for 3 years of education and getting only one year on the court. Plus a big hole in our starting lineup in July.

College is also about education.......... I think that Coach did the right thing. I am sure that the word is out. Our program is a players program where young people are valued as individuals. Carm makes me proud. This fall my 3rd generation enters the class of 2024

HJ, we don't know how many credits had when Carey transferred. I see it as two years of scholarship for one year of playing, which is why I would not be in favor of recruiting sit-1, play-1 transfers. But Don could have been a sit-1, play-2 or 3. That didn't work out but it could have. That he could graduate in three years and was motivated to do so is a positive, not a negative in my opinion.

HJ is a good fan,but he must realize that the quality kids we recruit are like all the other young people at the college........working hard to earn credits for degrees and multiple majors. Suspend the basketball season and the athletes have more time to spend on academics.. This environment is what alumni and parents want for all our students.

Don got screwed over by JC plain and simple. After following him and burning his redshirt year the coach bailed on Don and the program. Carm and Carey made the best of the crappy situation Don was left in. It is a shame we didn't know he was gone a few months ago to fill that spot but it makes sense Don wanted to be sure he could graduate early before announcing anything. Chances are there won't even be a season at this point and none of it will matter.

Wish Carey nothing but the best. That being said, word is that AC is as good or better already than Carey. Also, Harris is developing nicely and with his talent our opponents should be very concerned about minimizing his impact on the game. Good luck with that ;-) Plus in the paint, Young will also be significantly better this year. Don't fear the Saints are going to be fine.

Good luck with that ;-) Plus in the paint, Young will also be significantly better this year. Don't fear the Saints are going to be fine. If Harris even just makes his FT shots, we'll be fine. He had a solid net rating in MAAC play because he ramped up his defense and slowed down on shooting the 3's. Aside from creating for others, Harris can just about impact the game in almost anyway he damn well pleases because of his athleticism. Let's hope he becomes the defensive star he's capable of being and figures out his shot. Carpenter, well, I think he could be some mixture of Kadeem Smithen and Don Carey in year 1. I think he'll be better on D, rebounding, and probably create for others better. I also think he could be our most efficient guard offensively because he's quick, athletic, finishes with both hands....AND DRAWS FOULS....then MAKES THE FTs. Carey didn't draw enough fouls. Smithen was great at it. Where Carpenter might struggle early on compared to Carey could be the 3 pt shooting but he'll also be better going to the rim I would think. Still, I would feel much better with another good, all-around guard a la Hopkins. I worry about the 3 pt shooting depth. Also, I think the overall backcourt talent level of the MAAC is rising. Siena winning on merits of its back court alone without Carey (considering our center unknowns) could be a difficult proposition this year. I think the MAAC is rising again.

We dont, but smart money is on he fact he came to MSM with a clean slate. Had 2 semesters and one Winter break to get, what, maybe 33? 36 credits at most before he left MSM? Don knew what he was doing. He was trying to get out of here as fast as possible. He wants the ball in his hands. and I dont blame him for that. I'm glad it helps our graduation rate, but simply stated, he wanted 2 years somewhere else, and I just wish our staff was in on that goal. Then we would have recruited accordingly. Now we're scrambling to replace a 30 min player in mid-July. And lets be honest, its been a longgggg time since we've been relevant. Had a chance to make a nice 3 year run with the leagues best player. This is a tough loss. Im not mad at Don. Im glad for him and wish him well. Just wish he had let the staff know in May he planned on leaving. Carm would have filled the hole. Yeah, he still can, but the cupboards are pretty bare compared to 10 weeks ago.

Wanting the ball in your hands is an outdated thing in basketball. Everyone knows that the more combo guards/point guards you are able to play in your lineup at the same time....the better the team. The team that would want Carey to play PG won't be like that. The kid has a real chance to regret leaving.

If there’s not college basketball as we know it will struggle to ever come back.

Plus these kids take classes every summer and since he's a smart kid, could have taken more than the regular course load when he sat the year. I don't begrudge an ambitious kid who wants to get his degree early.
