Bad news for developing team chemistry? Good news is Tate and Carpenter were already practicing with the team for a full semester. Could mean it will be a little longer before the other freshman are up to speed but don't think it will be a major problem.

Yeah, state rules make it so we probably can't have our kids back on campus until "phase 4"-- though who knows what exceptions can be made. I'd say the odds that the team is on campus before July 4 is fairly slim but hopefully they can get here at some point this summer. Everyone in the MAAC is gonna be in the same or worse boat for the most part.

Except pitino, he's going to charter a plane to Georgia and do all the workouts there.

Hopefully the incoming freshmen will enroll in on-line classes to enable them to practice with the team when and if they get the ok - it's fubar 101

Seems like time for things to play out in the re-opening. Won’t be classes but hopefully allow athletes back on campus. They are limited in numbers and associate just with themselves.

They associate with just themselves? How does that work is it a concentration camp? I think your July 4th estimate sounds good but it will depend upon how ny handles social distancing upon reopening in the first three phases.

Can players be allowed on campus without taking classes? Are their scholarships in effect to cover the expense of having them on campus if they aren't students participating in classes? When do the other athletes involved in fall sports return to campus? That would add a bunch more than just men's basketball players.

I just heard Gov Como declare all sports teams should begin training as soon as possible. I assume that means Siena can begin June 1,2020

You may be right. But I heard the Gov use the words all sports teams. I’m sure the Coach will get a opinion from on high. Other leagues are apt to raid us if we have to wait. I’M sure we will run a safe and secure month of intense work.

Oh, absolutely depends on what NY decides on the re-opening. After the July 4 holiday is just my hopeful target for now. And maybe I was being harsh about associating only with themselves. I was thinking that a group of 12-15 players could be easily required to stay on campus for at least some period of time. That may not be practical or even necessary if the rest of the area is open, but going worst-case scenario.

That would add a bunch more than just men's basketball players. Was that a requirement in the past? Were all players who participating in workouts attending classes? I just don't know. And, if so, I could see exceptions being allowed this year.
