People forget, Tay was the 4th best guard in his own recruiting class.

Still, the kid is probably gonna be a handful alongside Pickett, Camper, Carey and Co. I mean, it's a guard's league and Siena's 1-4 is very, very good. I consider Carpenter as one of those 4. I mean, I don't just say that lightly. The kid could be a 6-5 Roman Penn.

I was looking back at this the other day. He had a great shooting year as a senior but his first three years he wasn’t elite. In fairness, I think shooting from deep has come a long way in 10+ years, but Jordan has a really good chance to have similar or greater impact than Tay... unless he can’t crack the rotation enough because of guard depth. Jordan was 43% from deep in conference games... that’s elite shooter territory. You hit the nail on the head. I believe his time may be limited due to a deeper rotation at guard. Never hurts to have a guy that can shoot from deep. I believe he has been recruited over. Haha First of all you make it sound like recruited over is a bad thing. Secondly, Jordan was a walk on.

Aidan looks like he has put on some muscle by getting to campus early. Good news.

Not even close to Tay. But definitely a plus. I get that Tay made what 6 threes vs. Vandy, but come on, Tay shot 35.9% from 3 for his career. He gets more street cred than he deserves sometimes. He's Steven Cruz esque beloved, I get it, but King shot 37% from 3 as a frosh. That's pretty damn good. He improves on that, and he's gonna make the 6th man be called the Jordan King role instead of the Tay Fisher role. I loved Jordan King's first year. A local kid who became a difference-maker for the team as the year went on. Hustled his ass off. Looking forward to three more years of the same (and more) from him. But hopefully you'll forgive those of us who will forever have a special place in our Green-and-Gold hearts for Tay Fisher. Don't care what his stats are, though he did hit six 3s in the MAAC Championship game against Rider his senior season, as well as those six against Vanderbilt. But he helped bring the Saints back from the 6-24 season (a team he played on) over the next three seasons, including being on two twenty game winning teams, and the captain of his last team (no stat credit for that, just the respect of your teammates and coaches). And if there is a nicer person around than Tay Fisher, I'd have to meet that person to believe it (no stat credit for that either, I guess). And he does not get "more street cred than he deserves". He probably does get a ton of street cred from many Saints fans, but he earned every bit of it.

It's just that some people forget that he really only had one above average shooting year....and a lot of that was concentrated in 2 back-to-back postseason games his senior year. If he had played during Mitch's reign instead of Fran's, this board would think of him totally differently.

Tay was one of the streakiest shooters I've ever seen, it just took Fran until Tay's senior year to fully realize it. Games like his 0 for 11 againt Fordham his sophomore year would have never been allowed to happen by his senior year once Fran realized if Tay missed his first two attempts from 3 then it just wasn't his night. You can just look at Rider in his senior season. Both of the regular season matchups he started 0 for 2 from 3 and rode the bench playing 8 minutes in each game. Then in the MAAC Championship he wound up 6 for 10 from 3 playing 22 minutes against that same Rider team. It wasn't that the matchups changed, just that Fran recognized when he was feeling it and when he wasn't. Tay's ability to shoot didn't improve as much during his time at Siena as Fran's ability to let him play more when feeling it and less when he wasn't feeling it which really boosted his shooting percentage.

He was a difference-maker for sure and in more ways than just his shooting in a a few key games. Great attitude, a great team player. He really added to the chemistry of the team. I was part of the contingency that felt his great energy and hustle set a good example of how hard each player should play when they enter the game. With our deep roster this year, man, the season is going to be exciting. Let's keep our fingers crossed ! (about this coming season not being affected by this damn virus)

Lanier bought him here, but it was a blessing he got fired. Not sure how much of a chance he would have gotten behind Jack McClinton, Kojo Mensah and Albert Fisher. Things worked out just fine for him! Biggest game on the biggest stage. That’s how legends are made!
