So who is to blame for all the shot clock violations? Is there a coach on the floor? Obviously not.

The lack of talent is pretty obvious... Without Nico -- you can really see the lack of talent- squad is going to struggle to get to magic 10 win total. I actually think Jimmy is doing a good job with what he has, he is mixing defenses, try to work clock for good shots- very hard to make chicken salad out of chicken shit for 40 min. He made it, its his chicken shit!

One thing you won't get from Shivers is consistency!

One thing you won't get from Shivers is consistency! Why do you blame Shivers- guy avg 4 PPG last year, he is obviously a role player-- never going to be "the man" Ashante has more than doubled his scoring avg of last year. I swear some of you guys ( not saying you gosaints) get yourself worked up on these kids. It was obvious to me Ashante is a "role" player. He is type of kid that will get a little better every year and maybe a borderline 3rd team ALL MAAC type player by his senior season. SO-so isnt doing a horrible job coaching this team- he just doesnt have much talent, and yes more so than most on this board I get its his fault we dont have the talent. John Wooden could come back from the grave and he couldn't coach more then 13 or 14 wins out of this group. Some of you guys think if the kid signs with Siena he is automatically good or will magically get better at Siena- sorry it doesnt work that way. You need a coach that signs solid mid major type kids- I dont care who you are - you get a team full of kids with no other D1 offers or very low offer you get what Siena has right now. You have some "fluffers' and some "haters" that think Siena has more talent than we have. I don't know maybe Marist has less, ( its close) but this team has least amount of talent on any Siena team since maybe early 80's. Its not kids fault its the head coach's fault, who has been more concerned with his off season vacations than recruiting- I also blame the AD for letting him do it.

Jimmy looked like a beaten coach today while the game was still in progress? It's very sad to watch the opposing team score at will under the basket;the bigs that are on the floor cannot cover anyone! These players have more ability than they are showing on the court at this time ,they hopefully can play through this if for nothing else but pride in themselves and the team.GO SAINTS

I was hopeful today after the Marist win and some stability in the rotation. It looked like JP had landed on a rotation which worked and things were coming together. Today, JP is back to throwing things on the wall and seeing what sticks- putting together strange combinations and putting kids on the floor together in clusters that have zero chance of success. Huerter lets his man beat him to the hoop one time, gets yanked immediately and after sitting for ten minutes is close to useless rest of the game. Meanwhile, others get beaten repeatedly and they do not get yanked. Poor Sammy constantly in the doghouse and is probably the best rebounder per minute Siena has. Manny Camper has looked athletic and today he showed it. JP knowing he looks like a fool for never having played him, says in the post game interview, that Camper has been practicing well, so he deserved playing time. Putting someone in for the final four minutes is deserved playing time? That is him trying to backtrack and not look the complete fool for the best looking player on the court having sat the bench for the past ten games. This guy takes Siena fans for complete idiots!
Discouraging........................... again...................... JP is the root of all Siena problems.............. turn up the heat!

Regarding camper , oftentimes a seldom used player can come into a game and have an immediate temporary impact on a game. This is likely because the opposing coaches have not had a chance to scout (amazing right some coaches actually scout) and the opposing team disregards that player for awhile. I only offer this up to temper expectations as patsos either sets him back into his cave the rest of the season or tries to turn him into the next 30 minute starter of the week.

Spot on - he was left open but had the stones to do what they pay him to do when he a)has the ball in his hands, b)has an open opportunity, and c)is within range - SHOOT - a shot is the planned culmination of an offensive possession, then again JP does have a fixation on running the shot clock down combined with the need to have a big's DNA on it....

Can anyone tell me, at any point in this game where they felt we were going to go on a run and zip off a 6-8 point lead? Even when we were down only 4 points we putzed around passing the ball east/west until the shot clock was at blow it out your ass NOW. At no point did I ever feel that if we got the lead, we could sustain it until the end. We play not to lose. That is the worst thing any coach at any level can do.

If you look at Siena's statistics...there's now only 2 players on the roster with a sub 40% FG%...Clareth and Degnan.
And Siena is now shooting 38.7% from three as a team. To put that in context, Siena hasn't shot over 38% from three in a season since 2007-2008.
Yet...they're losing. And the things they're losing because of seem to me to be things that a coach could remedy with smart rotations, schemes, and strategies.....or at least put a patch on them.
Jimmy seems like a lost puppy on the sidelines. He's making shit up as he goes along with, what seems like, little real strategy behind them.

And Siena has been right there in every MAAC game. There hasn’t been a game this year where we got to the U4 media and had no shot other than maybe that Niagara game where Nico had just left and we weren’t ready to play. This team isn’t that far off. Obviously it’s not all on the coaches but it remains incomprehensible to me how JP continues to shove a square peg into a round hole. He recruited this entire roster of guards who can shoot and plays it like he has no idea how to use that personnel. If that’s the case he should have been recruiting more bigs and combo forwards and less combo guards.

They also just shot 11 for 35 from 2 point range against one of the worst teams in college basketball. At this point Siena should just be chucking up 3 pointers any opportunity they can get, might be able to steal a couple wins that way.

That's not how PPS works. 38.7% of 3 = 1.16 That's not good. They need to find a way to get to the FT line more and use the threat of 3 more to their advantage in spreading the floor....while having plays that are better designed for the personnel. Yesterday, Jimmy spent a lot of time in 2 big lineups....but he played a lot of man with them... WHY? Started with Fisher and Oduro...then he added Degnan to the mix. If Heurter is struggling....don't go big...go smaller. This team should never go bigger. They should have ZONED Quinny to death. Quinny is 10th in the MAAC in 3pt %. The only consistent shooter is Rigoni. Why did they play so much man? There should have always been a help defender on EVERY shot. That was one of the worst defensive gameplans I've ever seen from Jimmy. It was like he had no idea who he was playing. IDIOTIC. I would have sat in a 2-3 zone and made them beat us from 3 all day...even with a small lineup. Let guys like Smithen rake the bigs on a double team like he did in the zone vs. Louisville etc. Make no mistake...Jimmy lost yesterday's game. Not the players.

That was one of the worst defensive gameplans I've ever seen from Jimmy. It was like he had no idea who he was playing. IDIOTIC. You don't get any points per shot if you get a shot clock violation. Not to mention you are more likely to get more offensive boards on missed 3 pointers which generates extra shots. On a good team that can win games you don't want to settle for an average of 1.16 points per shot. On a bad team that is losing games you don't care about overall efficiency, you care about winning games. Launching 3's will win them extra games when they are hot and lead to more blowout losses when they are cold. At this point that is the best they can realistically hope for. I'd like to see everyone have the green light at the fist open look from 3, at the very least it should cut down on the shot clock violations.
