I wish our coach would go up into the stands during a game. Perhaps he could join the Rally Nuns.

My daughter was an administrator at Loyola for a number of years and loved Patsos. Smart, very easy to work with. With a new conference affiliation, I can't think he'd look to come here. He has been able to recruit even with Loyola's strong academics so the new league shouldn't be a problem for him

Can't see Pikiel having any interest as his program is going into the CAA. And why would Paulsen leave an elite academic institution, and nice league, to go to a troubled mid-major in the MAAC. Dream and hope but be realistic. We aren't a "good" job as the expectations are pretty high. I'm not saying we are getting Paulsen or Pikiel, but this is still a good job. We have the most fans in the MAAC by far, have the best facilities on and off campus, and three prior coaches have gone on to success at high major jobs. Expectations are high, but any hungry coach worth having knows this and will accept the challenge. We will soon see how committed our own administration is to meet the stated goals, however. Siena does not have the best on campus basketball facility. Many other schools have basketball only facilities for their players to get shots up etc. But throwing out all the ones that use that same venue as their "home arena" Farfield currently trumps us having a basketball practice facility.

30,000 sq ft for basketball only!!!!!!!!!! I do think Siena has high aspirations but they have to figure out how to execute their plan better and make better decisions. How they do this I'm not sure. Perhaps they need to check their egos at the door and hire professionals to do the job. I've heard of financial commitments to improve the facilities and increase the brand but it won't mean much if Siena doesn't have the right plan and direction going forward.

I'm sure that any D1 or D2-3 coach that's interested in advancing himself is well aware of the situation at Siena. if he sees this as an opportunity to advance his career he already has his application filled out and is ready for the flag to drop. We may be in a mess but we're still a big name in the mid-major game. I think the application line will stretch around the T-U Center. I can't wait. This could be the beginning our best run in D-1!

What about Quin Snyder as a candidate? I know his run at Missouri ended somewhat in scandal, but I don't think anything major stuck to him or the school. The guy can flat out coach.. I think he's an assistant coach in the Russian pro league now.

Here's a name for us to throw around: STEVE CLIFFORD. Has a little history at Siena. Few years as a D-1 assistant, and 4 years head coach at Adelphi where he ended up 50 games over .500. Has been in the NBA as an assistant for the last 12 years, mostly under the Van Gundy boys in NY and Orlando.
He was hired by the Lakers recently fired Mike Brown, and it was 50/50 if he kept his job with D'Antoni. He was retained, but that $hitshow there has to be enough to want anyone to start looking for another gig.
Maybe it's time to come back to NY and rescue a school he's already coached at albeit only for a year. He's been teaching, and learning the game at it's highest level for the last decade. He'd be a guy I'd love to reach out to and see if he's tired of the pro game yet and finally gets to run his own program. His recruiting contacts would be endless, especially in the NY/NJ area.

Pro guys aren't college guys. Clifford may be good but the mindset dealing with HS/college kids is way different than million dollar pros.
I agree that the line for Mitch's job will stretch from Loudonville to Pearl St. This is an awesome gig. Fans, facilities, history, location (to some), resources, media, etc. There are few gigs like ours.
PS: I heard Mitch is making $600K. I'm not sure about that but if true it could explain why the admins left him swinging - they couldn't afford to buy him out - and they figure he's earned a few months of hell.

Patsos would be an excellent choice. He is an experienced hand, a top notch recruiter and would be wonderful ambassador for Siena College.

Cut that number in half... not sure its 300K but its close.. Mitch made a little over 250K his first year.. but 1st 3 months of that year were asst coach pay
