Right. What surprises me about the standard GOP contenders is that they are completely misunderstanding the Trump phenomenon. It isn't the fact that he was on TV (though that helps), it isn't that he's boorish (it is in spite of this). I believe it is the following: 1) He's not part of the "complex". 2) He takes a position and defends it. 3) He attacks with vigor and without apology.
Now, depending upon where one started from politically, each (or all) of those is a draw.
Trump as far as I can tell hasn't attacked any GOP'er first. He returns fire with a nuke though. The standard bearers just can't seem to get their heads around what they are dealing with.
I'll say this, if it comes down to Trump v Clinton or Trump v Sanders I think we're all pretty screwed...though I'd lean Trump at this point.

He is an entertainer, not a politician. People fed up with Washington have an alternative. The obstructionist GOP strategy to hobble Obama has alienated even their own and led to this.

There's precedent of people feed up and electing entertainers: Gov's Reagan, Ventura & Schwarzenegger; and we all know how Reagan eventually followed up the Governorship.
Back to the Future was on this weekend and I love the line with Christopher Lloyd (after hearing Fox tell him Ronald Reagan was the President: Who's the Vice President, Jerry Lewis (as he couldn't believe Reagen was President).
With Trump's unlimited funds, I'm thinking he's going to win the GOP nomination/Primary. There's a lot of young and upset voters, and with technology; they have an edge. Although I think the baby boomers still out number the young folks.
It's going to be interesting.
I still wonder what would have happened if Perot won way back when. Not sure if it would have mattered or made any bigger impact (or worse).

So does Reagan's son: www.cnn.com/2015/09/14/politics/michael-reagan-donald-trump-ronald-reagan/However, younger people are fed up with politics (or most in politics) and will listen to a Trump like person. Perot got my attention whenI was fed up. I could see Trump doing way better in the polls than Perot. I'm not saying I'll vote for him (or will vote for him). Just saying I won't be surprised if he wins.

Trump is an entertainer from the Don Rickles era. He is only one insult deep on the major issues confronting the country. I don't believe he has even considered the fact that the Congress he would get, regardless of their political makeup, would NOT be his employees subject to being fired if they don't do as he orders. He is riding a big wave that will soon come crashing into the shifting sands of the electorate as people get down to making real choices about our next leader. As I said months ago, Fiorina is one of the most impressive overall candidates in the Republican food fight right now.

Trump is not the answer! I personally like a Rubio/Fiorina ticket for the GOP! Both are extremely will spoken!

Sent from my SM-G900P using proboards You are just another clueless liberal and democratic loyalist. I'm sure you're a supporter of Bernie Sanders. At least Bernie admits he is a socialist where Obama lies about it. We need another Reagan, but I'm afraid the damage is done. Many of our young people support a socialist government with an income equality ideology. America as we know it is on life support, thanks to morons like you.

My prediction is the nominee will be Marco Rubio and his VP with either be Carly Fiorina or John Kasich. If the GOP truly wants to win this is the way to go to defeat Clinton (or Biden). GOP has to win Ohio, Florida, Virginia and either Iowa or Colorado to get to 270.

I'm not sure how exactly that is measured. But assuming there is income inequality and wealth disparity, a bigger government and income redistribution is not the answer.

Hey CR, since you have no idea who I am or what I am, calling me a moron is a little out of line. We have a difference ideologically and I have no difficulty being respectful to people who disagree with me. I am not threatened by their having differing ideas even though I am clear that my ideas are intelligent and well thought out. Name calling like moron, or socialist for that matter, just interferes with the exchange of ideas.
I think it also tends to be the first resort of people who know that their argument is weak.
Obama is a Muslim, this county is perched on the brink of disaster and Trump is the most qualified and capable person to lead this great country back from that precipice. I hope you understand that all three of those statements are laughable and have no basis in fact. I doubt that you do and I also really hope that your personal experience of life in this country at this time is not close to the disaster that you describe.

A lot of people emigrated to this country to get away from the ideology that you embrace. Wake up! For the record I don't support Trump. But I would vote for him over Hilary, Biden or Sanders - not even close. I would prefer a Rubio, Cruz, Christie, Kasick maybe some others. This class warfare garbage has to stop. Taxing people more isn't the answer. Obama has been a divider. Not a big surprise to anyone that follows politics objectively. I continue to be an independent, but I haven't seen a democratic candidate that I would vote for in a long time.

You mean did I vote for him rather than the usual suspects the republicans put up as "viable" candidates? You bet! But two term president Barack Obama is no socialist any more than Trump is a self aggrandizing racist.
A true independent would not resort to name calling, socialist, to describe a body of work that has taken us from a free falling stock market, record unemployment and a stagnant economy to the record wall street numbers and a revitalized economy in general.
I know you are replying that these facts are fantasies and in response I say again...independent?...laughable.
