Glen, How about solving the immigration problem and work on tax reform. The Republican driven sequester Band-Aid has resulted in a deterioration of our military. President Obama's job creation plan to wisely dump money into fixing our aging infrastructure was stopped by the Republicans - they didn't want jobs to be created to restore the economy they trashed. It goes on and on. Go back and replay Mitch McConnell's speech after President Obama's election - he vowed to put a roadblock in front of every item the Democrats put forward - that's pure, unadulterated obstructionism. Yes, in spite of this, stuff got done but think what might have been accomplished in a more bipartisan environment. The problem is partisan folks like MP are brain washed by party loyalty and bad ideology. His idea of bipartisanship is to let everything pass without republican participation. Objectively speaking Obama created a divisive atmosphere not one of cooperation. It started day one of his administration. If you couldn't see it you're probably a democrat. Unfortunately, a lot of the poor, have nots, uninformed, and less educated tend to be dems. Not exactly a hard group of folks to manipulate, most still support Hilary- very sad. Wow - just wow! True colors come shining through - yikes! Day one - wow - you can't make this shit up, oh, wait, it just did!

Arrogance and ignorance is an amazing combination that Fox news exploits every day. I don't think their "experts" even belief the Crap they spew but they know it makes them rich so they say it with conviction to their "informed" masses.

Republican driven sequester? Don't get me wrong McConnell and company are a bunch of schmucks. Right now they should be using the 51 votes to pass a reasonable budget. They won't because I don't believe they want to scale back on spending anymore than the D team.

That fact was what enabled your Republican buddies to stymie a lot of Senate votes when the Democrats had the majority (>50) but less than the 60 needed to stop a filibuster.

The real problem is the tea party. THEY are the ones creating the devisive atmosphere and did so from day one. Talk about ignorance, uninformed, uneducated... Check out some of the tea party. It isn't Obama who started the policies of no compromise. It is the American way... It has permeated our culture. Everyone wants everything their way... Or else. I dislike BOTH parties and feel I am not represented by either. I know who the Republicans represent... And it sure as hell isnt me. The democrats are more of a gray area but it doesnt feel like they represent me either. Its a shame a guy like Sanders only chance at election is through aligning with one of those parties.

The 60 votes doesn't apply to budget bills. You do remember that's how they got OCare through, right!? They declared it a budget item so it only needed a simple majority.

The 60 votes doesn't apply to budget bills. You do remember that's how they got OCare through, right!? They declared it a budget item so it only needed a simple majority. Budget resolutions cannot be filibustered but the spending bills are subject to that process (i.e., a supermajority of 60 votes is needed to end debate). Bills to fund the Government for any period can be filibustered. That is one of the reasons we haven't had a real budget in years! You are not correct in your statement relative to how the Affordable Health Care Act passed the Senate and House. The supermajority rules were in place - 60 votes was requred in the Senate to end debate (filibuster). Here is a very concise explanation of how the law was passed - it was not passed with a simple majority in the Senate. www.forbes.com/sites/physiciansfoundation/2014/03/26/a-look-back-at-how-the-president-was-able-to-sign-obamacare-into-law-four-years-ago/
