1 - I have no love for government control or Obama. The government control is necessary because the corporate world is incapable of moral decision making or policing themselves. Necessary evil and in fact that cost is born by tax payers to police the corporations who would pilfe said tax payers in other ways if left to their own devices
2 - "U.S. Chamber of Commerce president and CEO" a known puppet of conservatives (right wing) therefor anything coming out of their mouth has to be taken with a grain of salt.
and regarding presidencies and successful economies... it takes years before policies impacts on the economy are felt. The economic impacts during any president arent fully realized until years later. Added to that... a clustereff congress hasnt helped in the least. Cant lay it all on the presidents lap... despite the simplicity of doing so.

So you are a lefty? A socialist? Do you know what that means? You are dishonest or ignorant. You voted for obama, correct? Dont lie again. You are a hopeless liberal. Stick to basketball leave the rest to the folks that actually read the other parts of the newspaper. If you are under 30 I'll forgive you, you need to grow up.

Again, SF offers his views and you get personal. Is your name Rush or Glenn? Love having you as a Siena fan but please tell me you are not a graduate of our fine school. You imply that SF and the rest of us don't read "other parts of the newspaper" whatever the hell that means. I owuld guess FOX is numero uno on your Favorites. It took Bush almost two full terms to completely eff up our economy and get us into two totally worthless and unwinnable wars! Reagan was nothing more than a hired actor to read speeches written by his "aides". The man was a great actor and continued in that role until his health failed him. Our effed up Congress got that wey because the conservatives stopped being reasonable - we no longer have moderate anythings! The typical response to any arguments we make is you are liberal socialists. Almost equivalent to using the N word in other discussions. You haven't made one point with one fact in all ouf your dribbles.

I can't wait until this thread dies...I come here to get away from this crap. Go Saints! Easy fix, don't come here! The thread title should be enough to tell your brain "Don't go here, it's crap!" If not, I can't help you. OBTW, nice meeting you the other night, uneventful as it was.

Just a pain...plus this argument is unwinnable by anyone. Election results are the only scoreboard. Ok, so tell me where I met you? Section 229?

Smart guy! From Liberal to Conservative ! Worked for carter or Mondale I think at one point. I read his columns when I can. Good article in wsj I just read. I will get the link and share. He is a good man and he is consistent. I don't get to read as much as would like but I want to read his book called things that matter.

I'm generally a conservative. I'm more libertarian socially and conservative on fiscal and foreign policy issues.
I find that liberal policies sound great in theory but in practice tend to fail. It is difficult for conservatives to counter these initiatives because they do sound so "nice". Taking care of people, letting people do what they want, not stigmatizing the needy, etc. If you look at outcomes the picture isn't as nice. There are tons of examples but one that really screams at me is the out of wedlock birth rate for minorities. pre-1965 it was the same or better than the white rate. Currently it is at 70%+. Hmmm, what changed? Another example - and this is a good one because we'll get a before/after/after again picture - look at NYC pre-Giuliani. It was a disaster. Rudy built it up and bloomberg kept it going. We're now going to see what happens when DeBlasio re-installs liberal policies. I can't wait because it will (in my estimation) probably conclusively show the failings of liberal policies. The intentions are good but they don't take into account human nature.
