With OOC play almost done, team RPI's are coming into focus. MAAC A-10 Manhattan 111 UMass 1 Iona 152 Dayton 13 Qinny 161 St Lou 52 CC 206 Geo. W 62 Monm 219 Richmond 69 Rider 271 VCU 77 Siena 274 Fordham 157 Niagara 286 St Bonnie 173 FF 287 G Mason 175 SPC 319 LaSalle 183 Marist 326 URI 202 St Joes 236 Duquesne 304
Now, with the A-10 adding Davidson (180) and projected to possibly lose UMass, Dayton, St Louis, Richmond, and VCU (5 of their top6), they will be almost identical in RPI, a one bid league just like the MAAC, probably lose most of their TV money with no marquee programs, and be much tougher and more expensive travel wise. And playing George Washington, Fordham, St Bonnie, G Mason, LaSalle, URI, St Joes, Duquesne, and Davidson might actually reduce attendance at home. There might be more loss than gain.

A10 still would have a better geographical footprint for student recruitment ... With shrinking HS enrollment in Northeast Siena admin is targeting Metro DC ... Losing Loyola was a blow to this strategy

It's kill or be killed. If Siena got the invite in the future and declined it, it's certainly possible that our invite would go on to Fairfield or Iona, or maybe even Manhattan or Canisius. If you're not moving up, you're falling behind.

YES!!
If the offer is extended: Siena BoT; senior leadership; alumni; corporate supports and athletic department should do EVERYTHING in their power to make it happen-
1. It would still raise the profile of Siena athletics
2. Better recruiting opportunities in other parts of the country-for all sports.
3. Better quality recruits
3. A fighting chance of an at large bid.
4. More games against top notch schools!
5. Its market dominance.
6. Better TV exposure.
5. A better chance to become a national mid-major power on the hardwood.
6. Playing in the Barkley Center for the A10 Championship!

The A-10 lost most of their "top notch teams" already and stand to lose the rest. The tourney won't last in the Barclays without Xavier, Temple, Butler, Charlotte, VCU, UMass, St Louis, Dayton, Richmond. And the other schools left will lose a recruiting tool as they can no longer boast those schools on their schedule. The whole conference is trending down.

You don't know what other schools would be added. If you like watching St. Peter's and Monmouth in its high school gyms, the maac is for you. But I'll be having fun rooting for Siena against the likes of LaSalle, St. Bonaventure, George Mason, and whoever else is in the A10.

If you're not moving up, you're falling behind. Square, If the A10 expands it is questionable whether Siena will get the invite. Other possible candidates include William & Mary, Hofstra, The College of Charleston, Northeastern, James Madison, UNC Wilmington, and Detroit. There has been absolutely no mention of Fairfield, Iona, Manhattan, or Canisius being invited to join the A10 as you have asked us to believe. I am told by a source I deem reliable that Hofstra (think larger media market) will be invited before Siena.

Glens falls you are beating a dead horse- if when the invite comes Siena will take it. Siena has almost nothing in common with rest of MAAC teams that play in small gyms and very little fan interest As attendance dropping are you for real? Almost all A10 have fan base that actually travel to away games. Nice try but I'm not buying it

Tony
Where in my above post did I say that Siena would not accept an invite?
What I said is that Siena may not get the invite which you and others have predicted.
Thanks.

You really think Davidson or URI fans are coming to Albany? Duquesne,Fordham, LaSalle, Geo. Washington,St Bonnie, St Joe's don't draw at home, home many fans follow them on the road? LMAO

LMAO Really what group does Siena have more in common with-- Upstate you do know outside of Siena nobody in MAAC draws flies and other than Marist brings no fans to TUC-- I've seen in non conf games many Bonnies fans Umass fans-- Fordhamm, URI St Joes etc make trip to TUC.. Siena gets zero lift from MAAC since most teams have no attendance -- for you to claim attendance would go down without a shred of evidence is laughable you really need to get your facts straight before you take me on- Hope that helps Dayton 12110 Duquesne 2188 Fordham 2148 George Mason 4749 George Washington 2005 La Salle 3343 Massachusetts 4706 Rhode Island 3260 Richmond 5420 Saint Joseph's 4036 Saint Louis 6866 St. Bonaventure 3822 VCU 7741 Canisius 1579 Fairfield 2474 Iona 1892 Manhattan 2411 Marist 1577 Monmouth 1584 Niagara 1937 Quinnipiac 1447 Rider 1030 Saint Peter's 440 Siena 8482

The answer is heck yeah Siena should go and they will WHEN the invite comes down.
I really believe Siena will be the next team invited. When we get the invite is the question.
That's why we need to start to get this thing going and win games.

I've heard a lot of reasons on why Siena shouldn't go to A10-- but attendance has to be the lamest reason yet... yeah who would fans rather see Quinny or Umass? Rider or LaSalle, Canisius or Duquesnse. Iona or VCU, Manhattan or Richmond.. St Joe's or St Peters', Monmouth or URI, Niagara or George Mason ..really upstate serious question- do you follow college basketball at all?

Yeah, Tony, that's awesome. You're never wrong. Except that their top 4 in attendance will be gone and the remainder draw less than 4k at home, so how can you claim they will bring any on the road? Not to mention that when VCU, UMass, St Louis, Richmond, and Dayton are gone, the others attendance will drop even more, to about 3k. And who would people rather see? Well, when the top A-10 teams are all gone and recruiting drops off because of it, people will have more interest in regional rivalries than teams from Rhode Island or North Carolina.

Hofstra gets no play in the NY media except in crime reporting . . . all kidding aside Tri-Cities college basketball is the prime media sports attraction with hockey coming in second . . . colleges you mention would fall in behind Siena if non-Virginia schools exited A10 . . . James Madison/W&M might have the edge if VA schools left first
