I’ve been preaching this since last April- I won’t put a number on wins- I do know team will be fun to watch and it will be fun to watch freshmen improve as year goes on. After the crap I sat thru last 3 years this year is going to be a pleasure no matter how many games we win. I am confident program is headed in right direction. Siena will be back on top of MAAC ( where we belong) soon. MAAC teams better get us this year because as soon as next year it may not be so easy

Let's be honest here, Jimmy's first year as Siena's head coach is a lot like Paul & Fran's. They each took over a program that looked like Europe on May 7, 1945. For me a 'great' season, this year, is one in which we begin to once again see life, excitement, energy, growth and a glimmer of the sunny times ahead. Two years from now 'great' will be a MUCH higher bar: 20+ wins and postseason play.

Sign me up for 18, I don't know which 18, but I have faith in Jimmy. As for starting 4 freshmen, I'd put the odds as equal to starting 1 (Wright, by default). Silas, Beisbing, Oliver and Poole could easily be the other starting 4. Other than Rob, not a ton of experience there but experience, and if Evan recovers in time, might be NO freshman starting early in the season. Yes I know it looks like JP is leaning towards Wright, and that is fine. I think the real point is that no one has a frickin' clue. I expect (and don't have a clue who either) that this team will start players who play major minutes based on match-ups game to game. Poole has a spot, the rest are fighting for one. Just my 2 cents.

Pre-season talk and rankings mean nothing- in any sport! The Boston Red Sox are the perfect example of this..most if not all the pre-season rankings had them in either last place or second to last in the AL East. And I'm sure there were low exceptions on the part of the team and their manager. But look at them now!
I still think this team has the talent/ability to come in -3rd or 4th in the MAAC! And have between 17-20 wins!

I think the point he is making is that the team is very young, and adjusting to a new coaching style so expectations should be tempered. Four freshman may not start but will see major minutes. The MAAC is pretty solid this year and the OOC is tough, so its realistic to see siena start off slow and finish .500 or below. I personally think that 6th to 8th in the MAAC should be the goal THIS season. agreed, I am not sure other then UA, Cornell and Hofstra that anyone can confidently predict a win in the OOC schedule. dipset is good to see that you actually post informative information. I would be unhappy with 3-11 but not completely disappointed. 5-9 sounds great but is honestly unrealistic, I hope I am surprised! So you are confidently predicting a win in the first game of the season in front of 10k fans, starting a bunch of freshmen...? Because 'we blow'? A team that's coming off an NCAA appearance and 24 wins? That is now more athletic/bigger then last years team? Notice I didn't say better team yet... Interesting...can't wait.

Siena will be an underdog in their first 11 games. It will be interesting on how many wins comes in that stretch.playing Albany the first game is tough, most of the fan base don't respect UA and will overreact to whatever happens in that game. A loss will be doom and gloom and a win is expected by most on this board.
Go Sox one more win until the parade.

Wilkin has us losing to the Danes by 17. Can I get those points and bet him a grand?

17 - 20 is so unrealistic it's not even funny. We're probably looking at starting the season w/ 2 or 3 (possibly 4 if we're lucky) wins through Dec. that's means we would have to win the next 14 or 15 out of 18 just to get to 17 wins. Unlikely! I don't think so. And you think 20 is possible. That's just a ridiculous expectation for these young kids to achieve.

I can see Siena winning anywhere from 7 games to 17 games. 17 would be a pleasant surprise. 15 is fairly realistic given Patsos track record, the status of the MAAC etc. 13-15 games is the sweet spot where you will most likely find this team at the end of the regular season. It will be a rocky start thanks to the difficulty in the schedule. It will be a bumpy middle with some losses in close games and typical erratic play from rookies. Look for Siena to start to swing into the W column more often as we get into January. Siena wins closer to 17 the earlier that happens... the later in January that happens... well the worse the record will be. I could see this team finish winning 7 or 8 of their last 10 if things progress as we would like.
having seen little of the team thus far and of course the lineup in flux (i really think White needs to be out there and developing early for the higher win total to happen by year's end). I think the longer the two/three in particular take to solidify roles... the worse the record will be.
obviously all speculation and ill adjust my opinion after seeing them a couple times.

The best thing about a team playing a lot of freshmen is that you have to watch every game because we have NO idea what's going to happen. Some days they shock a power team and other days they blow a lead to a bunch of scrubs. If you don't let it get you too much it can be a ton of fun! That is what I am looking for with this team this year.

Unlike the PW and Fran, Patsos was left for the most part nothing. Poole and little else. PW had Jackson, POY Rossiter, POY candidate Anosike and a cast of role players. Fran was left Jordan, Mensah, Fisher, Ryan and the advantage of a weak conference. Patsos gets Poole and some role players. Some tough sledding ahead.

I don't think anyone was expecting Cantamesa, Osinski, Deters, Freeny, Fields and Faison as the core of a team that went on to over 66 games in 3 years. I am not comparing the current roster to that group just pointing out that we have yet to see what that group is capable of as they develop under the new coaching staff. That said, no one expected Fran's first year based on what they had coming back. Jordan was coming off an injury, McClinton & Al Fisher were gone, they played Jordan at the 4 and Ryan at the 5 for a good portion of the year. Hasbrouck was a late signing. Best coaching job I've ever seen.

Well I am a little bit of a Siena homer so I am sure that plays into it...As for UA vs. Siena the game always, no matter the talent, comes down to coaching. With that said I can confidently say that Jimmy is a better coach then Will.

It's just the 17-20 win predictions are crazy. 14 wins this year is solid in my eyes, anything over that is a bonus.
