Well for the time being they’ve vacated the space completely. Hard to believe they can overhaul the entire system if they didn’t succeed with one team. - see my edit to my original comment. The Ignite team made up of younger player was non-competitive in the regular G-League, winning only 2 games so far. The system they are considering would be a separate league of younger players competing against each other and not the men in the other G-league teams. If the Ignite is eliminated the players will likely be assigned to the other teams in the G-league where they will have to compete for PT with the guys that were hammering them each night. It's like Carm playing HS walk-ons vs college ready players. The Ignite were overmatched each night. I understand what you’re saying but I just don’t think the NBA has the desire to overhaul the “amateur” system like that. Silver said shutting down the Ignite team was a response to NIL entering the market and he didn’t seem to offer any ideas for pivoting their approach on attracting pre draft eligible players, so I tend to view it as a retreat for at least the time being. I also understand that the G League Ignite team is kind of a goofy idea in the first place. If the NBA really wanted they probably could create a feeder system similar to Euro Basketball and Soccer but I just don’t think they’re willing to spend that much money, time and energy to do it. My point is I think College Basketball will continue to be the feeder league going forward and even more so than it has been the last 5 years with the G League Ignite and Overtime Elite proving to not be very practical.

When top NIL players are getting multiple millions and making more than some NBA rookies it does seem like an infeasible model. I don't know why Caitlin Clark is going to the WNBA. She can make more in college.

Kinda funny. Posters are on here hoping for transfers to pick Siena, but hating on those that left. I hate the NIL era as much as anyone, but it is what it is. I don’t see anyone “hating” on here. I don’t think Dan Hurley and other coaches making these comments are hating on anyone. It’s what college basketball has become and they don’t like it. If that is hating, I guess I’m a hater. Then I guess you’ll refer to incoming the kid who just committed as “changing underwear”? My point is, we should not be taking kids to task for seeking opportunities that may present themselves when we are actively rooting for Siena to land players that are similarly seeking something better. Just saw, and I have no idea how real it is, but AJ Storms turned down 750k in NIL money from Kansas as he was looking for $1m. That’s life changing money for a 22 year old. I can’t believe anyone on this board wouldn’t make a move if that kind of money was available. Again, I am not a fan of the portal but this is the new normal.

In order to see winning again the Saints will have to out spend others for one year players. If you want to win that's what you have to do, don't complain about it embrace it and watch the results. If Adam W. is on board it's going to be a great ride for as long as he's funding the NIL. look you are not wrong.............but supposedly Iona has spent a ton, way more than Siena did last year and look where they finished in the standings plus below .500.........I don't recall seeing them in the NCAA tournament this March, so just "spending" alot of money doesn't always guarantee you anything, we see that in pro sports all the time...........it certainly will help but don't be fooled that all it takes is money, not the case............ Exactly, it isn’t the NCAA that is driving this, it’s the lawyers, agents and hangers on who are profiting by creating this era of free agency. Ultimately what’s going to happen is hundreds of D1 programs won’t be able to compete and the result will be thousands of kids losing the chance at scholarships. But those power six kids will get paid as will their handlers, so all good right?

It’s the wild Wild West … neither the schools nor NCAA have any control over NIL organizations … basically it’s a free-agency model …. colleges pick up all the expenses while players get to keep the gold

Just saw an athlete on tiik tok (goes your life) crying about "losing" $18,000 of her nil money to taxes 😂

She can make more in college. Caitlin Clark will continue to make millions in NIL after college, if not more than she is making now. Im not so sure about that. I feel like the WNBA will eat her up. Its pretty clear that while women players in general are happy that Clark has bought so much positive attention to their game, the jealousy is obvious. The NCAA and her Iowa team got so much play that wont be there for her with the Indiana (?) next year. Lets face it, she's a normal looking white, straight (yup, that does matter) girl that not only can shoot from Steph Curry range, but her passing is even better. All of those factor in her being the media darling she is right nw. Can she change the game at the professional level like Bird/Magic did? She doesnt seen to have a foil. Angel Reese would be the closest thing, but I think her success is mainly because of her size. The BASE salary for the overall #1 pick in the WNBA draft is $76,000!! She needs to make as much money as she can while shes the hottest thing on the planet. I hope she takes that $5M Ice Cube offered her for his 3 x 3 league. She'll never get another shot at that kind of money. I know she has deals with Gatorade and State Farm, and probably a few others. GREAT for her. She's "IT" right now, but Im afraid she'll be "out of sight, out of mind" a year from now while the established stars of the WNBA make a conscious effort to knock her down a few pegs becaue they didnt get the attention they thought they deserved when they played in college.

You've got a whole nother set of humans to watch the games now It was the cute thing to do for the last two weeks, where were they for the other 32 games during the year. Good luck trying to get people to care for an entire season.
