We'll be luck to get a guy as good as Eley. He's what Carm desperately needs...a guy who can create his own shot. The offense certainly doesn't provide any easy looks. If Carm stays (as it is looking now) we'll get roster churn but I highly suspect the overall caliber won't be markedly different. I hope SD and Gio stay. I suppose at this point it doesn't matter. Next year is a write-off IMO. Kudos to those who have the persistence to see this through to better times. He quit on the team and is softer than a baby’s ass. Carm deserves a lot of blame but don’t let these guys off the hook. They sucked this year. I refuse to say next season is a write off. We’re in the friggin MAAC you can go from 4 wins to 24. Go get older talented experienced players.

This is what he does, comes and then leaves. Gio, hopefully, will be more loyal. Expect SD to enter the portal any day now.

I do also agree you can turn it around quickly in the MAAC, I just dont see how we can turn it around quickly with this coach. He has not shown that ability. Just continues to trend down down down. I think the absolute best you can hope or wish for with this clown as coach is probably .500, even that may not be doable.

Thank god! We don’t need a kid who is never on the court, and lead us to 4 wins and quit on the team.

If Carm was half the coach claims to be - or tells everyone he is-he would have done everything in his power to keep Ely. Instead he seemed even more aloof and cold about Ely. Actually there is a distinct lack of warm and fuzzies toward any player except one or two... I don’t doubt eley’s ability and he is talented but I also don’t believe a coach should have to beg a player to stay. I also feel that if the player does not want to be here then I don’t believe you get 100% out of him!

Eley still listed on the Saints March On website: www.saintsmarchon.com/our-siena-athletes. Get your Michael Eley Sandwich at Works Cafe while you can. They are now limited edition for a short time... Surprised Carm hasn’t taken him down from the roster on the website yet. I don’t think SD hits the portal right away. How would he get around town without the car, and he probably wants to see what happens with the court cases and the no sit for any number of transfers rule.

I saw a reputable reporter say before the portal opened the NCAA has already given guidance that it will not penalize kids with multiple transfers. Edit: Found an article from AP www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/39727086/multiple-transfer-athletes-play-amid-lawsuit-ncaa-says

I saw a kid that was pretty banged up most of the year, make several attempts to come back to play, including at the end of the season and in the tourney. That was despite the team's horrific season and having to play with inferior teammates. I do not view that as a kid who quit on the team. Why would any player (except the walk-ons) want to return for another year under Carm? I cannot blame Michael for wanting a fresh start.

I will be very disappointed if Durugordon enters the portal, not because of his ability, but because of all Carm/Siena did to make the case for his transfer waiver. If he bails now, it was all a charade.

Eley is soft?!?! He's been sick / injured most of the season and still played like a champ. I get it ... 4 wins. Not all on the boys. Anything coaching related was horrible. Offense. Defense. Substitutions. You name it. Carm owns the 4 wins / 28 losses. He doesn't know what else he could do but it'll get better next year. If he brings in a bunch of transfers from Kentucky, I could see a winning record. Short of that, not so much.

Eley had a horrific year … probably doesn’t want any reminders going into the future … and he may not be the only one to jump ship … what Siena needs is to hire a successful coach who can get two or more starters ( or signed 3 star recruit) to follow him … and if Gio stays put would be a bonus … unlikely but would make me a little excited about next year

If he bails now, it was all a charade. you shouldn't be, players are only at any one place for just a year at a time, that's the reality..........unless some sort of "contract" is agreed upon between the player/NIL collective/school (if even that is possible) for staying for a certain # of years...........and now that kids who have transferred more than once, no longer will be required to sit out, you will see even more transfers than ever before.........the portal database is going to "crash" at some point with the influx of kids..............

Ely probably ends up at UMASS as that was his only really good game
Good job Carmie!

I agree it was all for nothing, but just saying SD should feel like he owes some appreciation for what they tried to do before the ruling. If not, then yes, let him go!
